NFL--NBA who really???

If for any reason the season is setback in the NFL they will lose some of their fans. Season ticket holders and not knowing what going on--joe average fan has no clue--vendors not knowing about employment to me this is a joke. As I said pimp the fans is the action both sides are taking. Salaries to the stars is secondary to their pays they receive from companies who pay them for endorsements. You walk down the street and ask the average fan about salaries paid to top players and I'm sure a good percentage will say way over paid. Dangerous yes, life threating yes, only job that this happens in NO. Now that I said that yes I will miss the NFL games if there is no solution and season is setback but will I die if that happens NO. AS far as NBA I could care less if they ever settle the sport other than betting on it sucks.
IMHO- these so called "work stoppages" are a joke to me. Just a bunch of fat belly owners and self effacing athletes urinating on each other over the outrageous sums of money that idiotic "fans" spend to see and be part of the charade that is being sold. I do feel for the multitude of businesses that are and will suffer because of these stoppages. But I have no sympathy for the athletes or owners. They will regret their stupidity for years to come as the economy and the "fans" will not generate the obscene pile of money that these idiots are presently litigating. But then again, stupid is what stupid does.
I'm comfortable not understanding what could possibly be meant by the suggestion in this thread that owners and players are "pimping out" fans.

There's no way that could actually mean something worth understanding.
Where salaries for players are where they are today and everyone wanting more and more profit only drives prices to see a game out of the reach of JOE AVERAGE FAN. Price a family of 4 attending an NFL game today. Pimping the fans is threating them with no NFL season if a settlement cannot be reached. The season go the way in which the players and owners decide it will go. Without fans they both lose. Players feel fan pressure will help in their cause to get a bigger piece of the pie. The fans cannot do anything to help this get settled.

Neither the owners nor its players are threatening fans.

They may be telling fans that there's a real chance no season will be played. Doing so is not a threat.

What are you talking about? And why do you think you are being treated like a pimp treats his prostitute?

I confess mass confusion here. Yet in this instance, I'm cool with it.
The owners and players are simply seeking out just what the fans will accept. From day one the idea of a threat of a no season was put out there. Pimping simply means the costs that it takes just to see a football game. It a game of just what the traffic will bare. Both owners and players alike are being paid too much in my opinion only in most professional sports. In ending if this drags out until the midnight hour they cannot reach an agreement and there is no season I could care less. I'm satisfied either way.
There will be an NFL season. A deal is principally in place and should get signed in the next few days.

And if something does go wrong and the stoppage continues, the ripple effect across the country would be much higher than people think. We've already decided to forego our annual trip to Indy this year, so that's about $2k not going to the city. Imagine another 50,000 people doing the same thing in Indy; a huge loss of revenue, not to mention the bars, restaurants, vendors, etc who will lose money, layoffs and closings happen. The NFL is the "cash cow" of sports leagues. It's as big if not bigger than the English Premier League. No NFL would be a huge blow to a lot of economies.

What I could care less about is the NBA, whom I believe will NOT have a season this year. Oh, and by the way, the MLB agreement runs out in December, so that should be fun as well. For me, personally, I couldn't care less about baseball either, but I know a lot of people who would be bothered by it.

THE RIPPLE EFFECT IS WHAT WOULD BE MY CONCERN. MY MAIN POINTS WERE TOWRDS THAT GROUP AND NOT HARD WORKING PEOPLE THAT SURROUND THE GAME (VENDOR, RESTAURANTS, HOTELS, AND PEOPLE WHO ACTUALLY WORK AT THE GAMES.) AS FAR A OWNERS AND PLAYERS WHO REALLY CARES.
At one time, the mere thought of the loss of games would've driven me crazy. Not so much anymore. and it's mostly because you don't have far to look and see guys making insane amounts of money who simply CAN'T PLAY.
Never mind $6 million a year. If some of these guys made $60,000 they'd be stealing.

Really had high hopes of a settlement when all the owners voted to accept the agreement. Now the players want to hold off on the vote so they have time study the changes in the agreement. Call it lack of trust or they figured the owners fired their last bullet. That what happens when you have billionaires dealing with millionaires I guess.
