No Mas Vegas

Can anyone provide concrete examples of the food in Reno being as good and cheaper, or not, as food in Vegas?

The  last 4 plus comments aren't even directed toward the topic, but an effort to demean each other's opinions.

Edso, we do have some MAGA creepsters here who have an unhealthy, possibly erotic? obsession with me and stalk me on every thread. I'll try to steer the ship back on course, away from the shit winds of the Sink.

I'll give you a couple of comparisons that I can think of at the moment. These are obviously my opinions, but as you're not a MAGA, I don't really need to explain that to you. Your mileage may vary.

Tacos: best in Vegas: Tacos El Gordo. Best in Reno: Jimboy's Tacos. Both are chains with modest geographical reaches and have several locations in Vegas and Reno, respectively. Three tacos and a drink at Tacos El Gordo: $15. Same meal at Jimboy's: $10.50.

Buffets: not highest-end, but not low-end, either. Toucan Charlie's at Atlantis in Reno. Weeknight dinner: $42.99. Palms in Vegas, non-lobster weeknight, $46.99. The Atlantis buffet is IMHO somewhat better, but these two were the most comparable I could think of. However, you do get a player's card discount at the Atlantis of at least 10% at the lowest tier, or more at higher tiers, so the Atlantis is actually $38.70.

Chinese food, non-casino: the joints on Spring Mountain west of the Strip have the best quality, but their prices are pretty high these days. I tried to make a quality comparison with the best place I remember in Reno. Let's go with the kung pao chicken entree. $15.99 at China Mama in Vegas, just the entree. $14.95 at Wang's Kitchen in Reno (walking distance from the downtown casinos), with soup, pork fried rice, egg roll, paper wrapped chicken, and sesame ball.

Casino coffee shop breakfast: now, if I included Emerald Island here, that would be the undisputed winner--but that's not really near Vegas, so let's compare local dust joints. Two eggs, bacon or sausage, hash browns, toast, and coffee. Palace Station, Brass Fork, in Vegas: $16. Baldini's, Empire Diner, in Reno (it might be on the border with Sparks): $13. (And I think the Empire breakfast is a little better.)

Prime rib dinner, dust joint special: Top Deck at Cal-Neva in Reno, complete dinner, $14.99. El Cortez in Vegas, $19.99. Almost exactly the same meal.

Prime rib dinner, medium ambiance: Primarily Prime Rib at South Point. Soup or salad, potato, vegetable. $25.95. Cafe Bellini at Western Village, Reno (Sparks), $27 for same complete dinner. Drinks are $1 cheaper at Bellini. Call it a tie.

If you have specific ideas/locations/cuisines in mind, I might be able to offer you more Reno suggestions.

Yes, when people the world around describe Vegas as a leading cuisine capital, it's because of loss-leader specials on prime rib, tacos, kung pao chicken, and breakfast platters.

You mean in Reno you can get bacon OR sausage? Mind blown!

How dumb of Anthony Curtis to spend decades focusing so much of his publishing career on Vegas' evolving dining scene while the affordability of the prime rib at Reno's Baldini's somehow remains such a secret!

Dude.

Reno's nice.

There is good food to be had there.

But it's dining scene is nothing compared to the breadth or depth of the one in Vegas.

Just accept glaringly-obvious objective reality.

Kevin, Thanks for the comparisons in regards to your experience with food in both Reno and Las Vegas.

I accept that your opinion differs from mine.

A halfway decent non-MAGA would afford me the same courtesy. Such a person would not be so stupidly arrogant as to elevate his opinion to the status of "objective reality," L O fucking L!

Now, unless you have something to contribute, perhaps you should go watch some Fox Nooze or something to calm you down. You seem very triggered.

This is MAGA somehow?

Fox News is involved?

Thank you for these further insights into what I've encountered here.

What is MAGA and how does it relate to food?

It's a term used to denote mental illness; one of the symptoms is that its victims believe that they know everything and only their opinions are valid. It has nothing to do with food per se. There are several MAGAs on these forums who follow me around and try to argue against any post I make--presumably because I've expressed disagreement with their political views (MAGAs are pro-Trump/pro-fascist) in the past.

But enough about them.

Your ill manner is due to your MAGA predilections, and Fox Nooze teaches you how to behave as a good little MAGA. Thank you for ruining this thread.

slate - MAGA is the initalized, shortened form for the slogan "Make America Great Again" utilized by President Trump and those who vote Republican. Lewis uses the "MAGA ('s)" form to criticize anyone who is not a brainwashed, deluded DemocRat. If you have common sense, are sane, logical, believe in the Constitution and love America, you are proudly a MAGA. If you hate America, have twisted values and viewpoints, favor ignoring the Constitution, possess no morals and vote DemocRat, then you are not a MAGA.
