It's the end of Inferno Season. Vegas has cooled down, and instead of being hot enough to melt lead (I exaggerate only slightly), it's just pleasantly warm, and cool at night. It happened fairly suddenly, as it always does here--one day, it was 20 degrees cooler than the day before, as if someone had thrown a switch.
This pleasant state of affairs will continue until the onset of Vegas winter, which does exist. It's only six weeks long, and runs approximately from the end of the Castrated Cowboy Festival to the fourth week of January. During that time, Vegas gets rained on, sometimes snowed on, and it's often actually cold. But it's bargain time in mid-December, if you're so inclined.
So if you've been thinking about a quick getaway to Vegas (or a slow one), the next several weeks would be a good time to do it. If you're a sports fan, it's hog heaven, as you have the World Series, the start of the NBA season, of course NFL games in full swing, and now! what Lucy of "Peanuts" calls "hockey ball." Don't plan on being able to actually get a ticket to a VGK game, but there are hundreds of places to watch the games.
And in response to those who have groused about the "negativity" of my posts, I'd just like to add that there are adorable, fluffy white bunnies everywhere, everybody is smiling, and nobody is drunk. And while I'm still getting honked at in traffic, I was given the finger only eight times this week. So everyone here is in a good mood!
