Orleans or Gold Coast

We usually stay at the GC but thought about a change. We always rent a car and the ride to mid strip is very simple and quick. How do these two jointly owned properties compare. We will be arriving late November so pool is not important. What about gambling odds? The Gold Coast seems to be better than most for VP and I can always find a $5 craps game.

We reserve the "premier" rooms at the GC which have been recently remodeled with flat screen tv's. The rooms are bigger at the Orleans but not sure what they are like. Photos shoe a regular tv (not flat) but this might have changed.

Comments are appreciated
The Orleans has many more (and better) eating choices, an 18 screen movie complex, an arena,
a bigger and better showroom, along with 70 lanes of bowling, a bigger and nicer pool complex, and a larger casino.

Also they have a spa.
I''ve seen the new refurbished GC rooms-- a nice relaxing warm aray of browns but the rooms are much smaller and have tiny bathrooms like MSS.
You can't make a bad choice-- I like both casinos w/ a slight nod to Orleans being in the lead...YMMV.

Its been 5 years since my last stay at the Orleans. They did a refresh of all the rooms at that point...how well they've been kept up since then I cant say. I would say the Orleans casino has gone downhill in recent years as has its buffet. I pop in every year to use my ACG Matchplay coupon and thats about it.

I think I would give the nod to Gold Coast simply because it has both the RIO and Palms within walking distance. You wont find better VP anywhere than the Palms.
Orleans is nicer. The hallways at the GC gave me the creeps. I also think the casino has a "better feel" than the GC.
I much prefer the Orleans rooms, casino and restaurants. The GC just seems run down everytime I've been there and their machines are just plain worn out or dirty.
It's tough to go wrong with either, but I prefer the Gold Coast. I'll try to explain why:

* They have more of the video poker games I like to play, in more denominations - including the #1 machine in town.
* It's about the least confusing big casino I've been in - just a big rectangle with minimal twists & turns
* The Orleans has friendlier dealers, but the GC folks are the best at just leaving you alone to gamble
* I think their buffet is consistently good, but YMMV
* The Orleans likes to perfume around the entrance, while the GC does not
* The GC is within easy walking distance of the Palms and the Rio. The nearest casino to the Orleans is the Gold Coast, which is over a mile away.

In the Orleans' favor, they do have more & better amenities, a really good coffee shop, and they seem more willing to comp small play.
Are the room comps at the Orleans really looser than at the Gold Coast?

I always just assumed that Gold Coast would be looser. Of course they don't have as many rooms as the Orleans.

Since the VP at the Gold Coast is generally better than at the Orleans I have always played and gotten comps there, but I am really tired of the limited food selection. Ping Pang Pong is great for dim sum though.
