Parking on the strip and downtown?

We are heading out on Saturday morning and staying at the Orleans for 3 nights. Going with a group of 6 so we are renting a car. We used to park behind Harrah's and IP on the strip and the Las Vegas Club downtown back in the day but it has been about 10 years since I have had a car out there.

Can anyone let me good, free places to park on the strip and downtown? There is a shuttle from the Orleans to the strip but I don't mind driving if parking is accessible.

There's a handy-dandy list of all the hotel parking policies in Las Vegas on this website....

Go to the "Stay" menu at the top of this page...and select "Parking Fees"

Hooters and Tropicana provide free parking and a short walk to the south strip.

Mid-Strip caqn be a little more challenging unless you can get a spot at Casino Royale - good luck with that.    I usually just hike it from Ellis Island if I'm going mid strip.

I wasn't award of the links on this site. Thank you!

I think LV strip parking might not seem expensive compared to downtown. Downtown LV parking is now enforced 7 days a week. Parking enforcers seem to ticket vehicles as soon as the meter times out. It could be there is a scan linking all meters not active so the enforcer can immediately identify vehicles parked in the spaces on a particular street without having to drive around and search for them. Even streets on the west side of Las Vegas blvd once free are now delegated pay to park. At 3.00 per hour thats makes the strip somewhat of a bargain. The city managements policy of the downtown parking is definitely a cash cow rivaling any strip casino parking revenue. I guess they also want their share of the action.

My favorite free parking, on the rare occasions when I visit the Strip, is the Venetian.

Downtown, I just use valet. There may be a couple of places that charge for valet, but I use the El Cortez, and it's free there--two large garages.

Downtown I park the valet at the Fremont - it is located in the middle of downtown and well worth the 2-3 dollar tip.
