Pawn Stars- line to get in up date

I was in Las Vegas Last week (12-25 and 12-31) and stopped into the Gold & Silver Pawn shop. Here are some observations. Please note the weather was awful this week, cold and windy with some rain.

#1 Drove to the store on Sunday at 10 AM, cold and windy. The line was down the street!Drove right by
#2 Drove to the store Monday at 3PM, cold, cold , cold. The line was down the street. I drove right by
#3 Drove to the store at noon and again at 5PM, cold, cold, cold (I am from new england by the way), and the line was down the street, and around the corner into the parking lot (200 people?)

#4 This went on all week. I tried differant hours on differant days, but nothing doing. I thought about yelling Fire but thats not cool these days!

#5 On thursday (my last chance) we drove there and the line was the smallest, but it was also the worst weather!Someone spilled a soda on the street outside the store and it was frozen solid on the street! We sucked it up and waited the 20+ minutes to get in. On the way out a family was there and the young daughter asked if any of the characters on the show where in there. They were not and a few family's left.

#5 This is the 3rd time I have been to the store and every time I go in the store has expanded a little. It is now about the size that it looks like on TV. The true size in the past was about the size of a closet!it just looked bigger on TV.

#6 a lot of space in the store sells soveniers of the guys. I did see the cannon that they shot bowling balls out of on the show, The parade horse saddle, and a few of the rebuilt soda machines, great job rebuilding them!, but I couldnt poney up the $7,000 they were looking for. I did buy an "old man" bobble head for $14

I wishI could be more help giving you a good day or even a good time of day to try and get in, but this is what I had to go thru. I wish you luck (dress warm!)

Is there something that makes this pawn shop an interesting enough attraction that someone would be willing to waste more than 5 minutes of their Vegas vacation time standing in line to go in? I mean, everyone has a pawn shop in their own home town, don't they?
Yet another classy post from Karen she is from Tenneesee so one can't be to hard on her
Long lines were probably partly due to it being a major vacation week.

We went last May, got there early morning, like 8:30am, had to wait for the taping to finish; a line had formed by the time we got in. But when we left there was no line at all.

Got a fleeting glimpse of Chumley disappearing behind closed doors.

You can't go in while they are taping, and that can make the lines get long.

I was going to get a souvenir tee shirt or key chain or something, but they were not very well done for the money they were asking. I passed.

I'd go again, but I wouldn't stand in line for it.

Gee, Maddy, who pissed in your Post Toasties?
Karen, I agree. I too don't see the attraction these people have with this pawn shop.
Went on Monday, December 13th around 3 PM .. they were filming someone outside in the parking lot .. no line to get in, went in, looked around, took a few pictures, my wife bought some shot glasses, a Chumlee shirt and a hat for her step-father for Christmas .. was kind of cool to see it in person, but probably wouldn't go back ..

The attraction for some is that this pawn shop (and some of the employees) is from a reality TV show called "Pawn Stars". Fans of the show want to see 'ground zero' where the show is taped, and hope to rub elbows with the stars of the show.
We drove by Tuesday (12/28?) on our way from off-strip to Fremont St. to ride the "Flightline." Early afternoon (1 PM?) Line was down the street and looked like it was getting ready to turn the corner.

I really like the show - especially when they tell you the history behind the pieces - but can't really see why I would want to go in and look around, unless I was going to be a customer.

We have check cashing stores and now a few tattoo parlors are allowed to open up. But no pawn where I live here in metro Detroit. Just Detroit has a few. More ebay seller stores than amd resale stores here. Lots of dollar general and dollar stores lately opening up.
I suspect that the attraction is not that it is a pawn shop, but that it is a place that is on TV! That is probably what makes people want to go there.
