I've played both blackjack and craps several time son my visits to Vegas but never used a players card or comp? card.
Do they exist for such games as I thought they were only for machines
Any help greatly appreciated

Table games as well as machines. Use your card. Can generate comps.
When you buy in, hand your card to the dealer. Dealer calls the pit boss who will log you in then hand your card back to you. The boss regularly stops by and records your average bet amount (computer type machine behind the table); when you color up and leave the table, he and the dealer collaborate on how much you left with, i.e. how much you won or lost. Average bet and time at the table are what goes into your 'rating.'
They use them at tables...
The "system" they use to determine your comps is at best a guess unless you are a high roller. They check in every 15 minutes or so to see if you are still playing and how much...and enter into their terminal. If the tables get crowded its hard for them to keep track..and they will make mistakes both in and out of your favor.
Many strip casinos wont even bother comping your play unless they think you are playing over $20 / hand...some higher than that. But if nothing else it generates activity on your card which at the very least will yield basic mailing offers.
In my experience, downtown and offstrip properties will reward your table play more generously at lower levels.
Also...
Some have told me that you can fool the pit boss into comping you at a higher rate simply by buying in with a large amount. When he's hanging around you bet higher amounts....and when his attention is elsewhere you can bet small.
I tried this last trip with no noticeable difference in comps....but I'd be curious to see if anyone else has gone that route?

I actually heard a player ask a boss about this recently. He laughed, said the amount we buy in makes no difference. I've also read about increasing bets when the boss is looking. And to be honest I do this sometimes, not expecting it to make much difference since I don't play big anyway. I think they know what's going on and I wouldn't want to look like a trouble maker. BUT...I am a friendly player, cheer other players on, chat the dealers up, and the bosses when appropriate. Makes it fun for me regardless. But, I believe some bosses, when they get to know you or see that you contribute to the table having a good time will try to give you the edge in a close call.
Another piece of advice for Mr: Time playing is very important, so save your money until you have 2 hours or more to play. Time helps with comps even if playing low limit. I've had a boss tell me this, even had one "back up" my time by an hour when I'd forgotten to hand over my card when I sat down. I told her I'd been at the table "at least thirty minutes", not expecting her to feel sorry for me, but she said "I'm putting you in for xxx" which amounted to an hour. That was great customer service! But she remembered me from a lot of previous visits.
Anyway, I try to plan 4 hours at a table. Of course if I run out of money that's another story. But I will change tables if one keeps running bad for me. Just let the pit boss know. If you move to a table in a nearby pit the boss can make sure your play is carried over. Again, the nicer ones will try to take care of good customers to the degree that they can.
Also, don't think you can throw down 5 C-notes, lose it all in five minutes and expect comps. You get nada for that kind of action. Once I saw a guy do just that. A $15 table, he asked for five black chips, bet and lost in just a few minutes, then asked the boss for a meal comp. Boss said "Sorry sir, I can't help you." Jeez. The guy could have taken his money to Picasso. He must have been a rookie.
Thanks very much for the heads up but I'm assuming all casinos have their own players cards
Most pit bulls record your buy in amount.I have heard them ask when one came back from a break.
IMO,the buy in amount MATTERS.Place your card to the dealer with a few hundred .They will notice that and you.Yes,let the boss know when you change tables."Rat-holing" the blacks may help your comps.
When I put that damn lime that I get in my Corona's in the ash tray, the pit boss may toss it for you.
I tell him or her that I don't like fruit in my beers. I tell the cocktail person"NO LIME" but I get one, anyway.
The pit people know that lime in the ashtray routine. They remember me,especially after the sixth one.
One pit person overheard my Corona order and he piped up and said"NO LIME" at the Downtown Grand!
They will remember you and that is a good thing. No lime Dave am I."Sin lima",en Espanol.
Yes Candy,I'll chat with the dralers and the bosses, when I can say something remarkable.
I have a "strip" pile of players cards and a pile of downtown ones that I separate.Going downtown? I'll take my downtown cards. They fit perfectly inside an empty cigarette pack.Rubber bands work better.
CARDS? I have expired ones.I could sell 'em on FEE PAY.

Dave, you could pass those limes over to me for my gin and tonics. Never enough lime. But with beer? Ick!
Players cards make excellent ice scrapers. I keep a few on hand for that purpose.
I have one from the Sands, 1987 or so, thin floppy plastic with those little rectangular cut outs for the computer to read them by. Not worth much I'm sure.
