Was out there today. The scenic loop drive is closed and guarded but the road (159) leading to it is open. Just take the road to the end and pull a U turn, it is still a wonderful drive through fantastic scenery

So the government can pay government employees to put barricades up all over the nation? How anyone can like OBAMA boggles the mind. He really is evil IMHO. I dont care if you are GOP or a DEM.

Valley of Fire is open.

Any government monument ,park ,or facility that is not open still needs some type of security to insure that vandals, thieves or hooligans do not deface, trash or steal artifacts.

I cancelled my car rental - A highlight of my trip is visiting the Parks. Might have kept it if I had known Valley of Fire was open.

You make a great point, as usual. A responsible, non-evil President would have left the Smithsonian unlocked, so that people could just let themselves in to see stuff like the 45.54 carat Hope Diamond.
