Returning after 2 year absence from our "playland"

Last time the wife and I traveled to vegas was for the superbowl 2 years ago. We were frequent visitors 2-3 times per year several years prior and just seemed to get a bit bored with traveling to the same destination.

I am a general building contractor and my local supplier provides me with 2 RT air tics each year. We decided to use them this year. Flight booking went smoothly, flying Allegiant from a regional airport that is small and so easy to get into and out of. Plus, no parking charges and you can just walk up to the terminal less than 1000 feet away.

They have 2 flights weekly going to and returning from vegas Thursday and Sunday. At first thought we would fly out super bowl morning and return on that Thursday. Then decided what the heck let's go for the week. (kind of rushed to get rental car- get to strip and place game bets) so we are arriving on Thursday prior to SB.

Booked a car with Dollar, have re-booked the car 5 times already as, the sooner our date approaches the prices continue to fall. Has gone down just under $100 from first res. Now have the car for the entire week for less than $200. Will check a few more times but I am pretty satisfied with the rates.

Places to stay, have not stayed downtown for years. Have wanted to see what improvements they have made so decided to get Thursday and Friday night DT. Booked rooms at the Plaza for $50 per night with the resort fee of $10 per night. I hope the remodel does not have me regretting this stay. We have very little history of gaming DT so no comp rooms were going to happen.

Contacted Harrahs site to check on our next stay. Wanted PH but they had nothing available for Saturday night (super bowl eve) but Bally came up with 3 comped nights. It is central strip so I booked it.
Not sure how much will game at Ballys but the location is good.

For our last 2 nights we had planned on using a room thru Ameristar association with MGM. Booked into Monte Carlo, comped but would have to pay the resort fee of $25 per night. I thought okay, not bad, that is still a really good rate. HOWEVER the next day in my email I had an offer for the Cosmo for 2 nights comped for mid Jan thru Feb. Called the next day on it and they did have the 2 nights available that we were seeking. Asked operator about Resort fees, she stated NOPE, nothing your room is a free room period! Great rolling in style (I hope). Crazy that I have heard nothing from them in 2 years and then POW I get an offer. I did check room prices the days prior so maybe if you don't book at that time they throw you a "bone".

Cosmo is another place that we may not give much of our gaming dollars to, but it is a great hotel and better location! SO all in all we have free flight and free rooms 5 of our 7 nights. Getting excited to see what has changed for better or worse.

We always rent a car cause we like to wander all over the city. May venture up to Pauite and play some golf. Will hit some of the outer edge casinos (did like the M and have had good luck at SouthPoint) sounds as though M has tightened about everything from gaming to food comps down big time.

one last thing I would like to do, is find a good place to spend watching the SB and close to the sportsbook to make bets prior and during the game. Have checked on a couple just need to make a choice where.
Sounds like a good time, enjoy.
Wow, 2 years, have a great trip!

We are headed there this weekend, staying at Paris on a great deal...3 nights comped, $600 freeplay and $400 in Southwest airlines gift cards.

golly damn that is a sweet amount of "freeplay". Now turn that into "real cash" and kick their ass!

I know, they've been really uping the free play. I got another offer for $850 for certain weekends in February, but we are headed to New Orleans for our Diamond aspiration trip during that month.

Enjoy your vacation! I don't know if I could do a whole week there, usually 3 nights is my max and that sometimes is pushing it. I think I'm getting old, lol.

Sounds great. Have fun win big
The sports book at the LVH (Las Vegas Hotel) is a great place to watch the game and bet to your heart's content.

Thanks for the info! My BF is a 49ers fan and we are looking for a fun place to watch the games this weekend. Hopefully they will make it to the SB!

I think that the Plaza rooms are fine with the remodeling. Make sure to get the Funbook at check-in!
