Rip Off "Resort Fees"

I agree 100% with your bold letter statements - they are factual and true. There are casinos that do not charge parking and resort fees, -  these casinos can be found in the Advisor under the Visit collum on the left side of the Advisor pull down listing columns.

Uh oh....David said that your statements are "factual and true." He also thinks that "Trump won the 2020 election" is a factual and true statement--his exact words.

That aside, it's a matter of semantics. I don't think 7 out of 10 casinos is "an overwhelming majority." Dan may think so. I would like for people to know, though, that it is indeed possible to avoid both resort and parking fees when staying downtown, so "an overwhelming majority" is an unnecessarily discouraging phrase.

Your reading skills are poor. I was referring to the use of the word "overwhelming."

I'm not overwhelmed by the casinos' policies. I can avoid resort and parking fees very easily.

This topic got waaaaay off base.  Dan's use of the word "overwhelming" was in regards to the number of casinos that have both resort and parking fees, and there are a whole lot of them, so he is correct.

You, me and many of the LVA membership know how to sidestep these fees by frequenting places that don't have them, but for most Las Vegas visitors, they pony up the resort and parking fees because they don't know any better.

       Perfectly and truthfully stated.

Right...and if someone who didn't know any better heard the word "overwhelming" in such a description, they might conclude, erroneously, that it was virtually impossible to avoid resort and/or parking fees.

Words get misused all the time (one of my favorites is "literally"), and when they are, often, a false impression is created. The meaning of "overwhelming" is being so superior in numbers that the opposition is completely dominated and helpless. That's clearly not the case downtown re resort fees and parking--not yet, anyway. Someone reading a post falsely stating that the hotels charging those fees "overwhelm" those that don't may erroneously conclude that they're unavoidable.

The proper way to state the situation would be that "most" or "a majority of" hotel/casinos charge resort/parking fees. But given that a significant portion of the American public are disciples of a man who constantly, ridiculously uses hyperbole, perhaps a 7:3 ratio IS "overwhelming."
