Safety issues

Just wondering...is it safe to walk from the strip to Ellis Island, the Palms, Orleans, or Hard Rock...all of these walks would be later at night...me and three females.

The scary part about walking to Orleans or the Palms is walking past the on/off freeway ramps - that traffic really moves and there just isn't that much pedestrian traffic that drivers bother to look out for. The cab fare from the strip is quite reasonable or you could take the free Coast shuttle from Bally's (depending on how late it is) to Orleans or to the Gold Coast (and then walk across the street to the Palms).

Think about it. How much time would you waste walking to the Palms or the Orleans vs a cab fare split 4 ways?

BIGLAR73...It's not so much about paying the cab fare, even though one of the females i'm going with just got laid off, but it's more about getting the best deal.

What part of the Strip are you starting from?
North Strip or South?

Don't judge it by looking at a map, as the crow flies. It ain't like that at all.

There is safety in numbers, from that standpoint.

But I agree with Linda...the freeway ramps, and depending on how far...scary.

Ellis Island and even Hard Rock might be doable, depending. But Palms and Orleans?

Your "best deal" might end up costing more in blistered feet and three tired females ready go clobber you...LOL

I'm a Vegas local, spend a fair amount of time around the strip, and I say emphatically "don't do it" I've seen plenty of people "begging" at the traffic lights there and the fast moving traffic etc near the freeway. It's just not worth it especially at night.

Don't do it
Take Harrahs shuttle to Rio and walk across the street to Palms. Treat the girls to bus, monorail and or Taxi. They won't think your cheap and know you care about yours and their safety.

Thanks Sheltie...I will probably cab it to Orleans and Palms, or use the free shuttle, if it's not too late.

Does anyone know if Ellis Island or Hard Rock are walkable, and safe? We'd be starting out on the strip, near the closest street.
