Southwest airline problem/question

Ok, heres my issue

I usually fly out of a local airport, 15 minutes away from my home town (manchester NH), but due to crazy high ticket prices when I booked flights in march, I was forced to book flights out of Boston Mass. Flying out of boston is a hassel as I have to inconvienance someone to drive the 1 hour plus and drop us off, or park in exspensive long term parking, or take the dreaded bus, but its always cheaper. in this case "much' cheaper.

Last week I was on Southwest airlines web site and found my tickets cheaper than ever out of my local airport! Sweet! (may 14th to the 21st)

I go the the southwest airlines web site and rather easily re-book my flights and was told I saved $300.20. 2 days later I called Southwest because I dont see where I have a credit for $300.

The Southwest airlines rep told me they divided the $300 between the 4 tickets holders that I bought for (all on "MY" credit card), so I have a $75 credit, my wife has a $75 credit, my daughter has a $75 credit, etc. I was a bit taken aback.

Does anyone else think I should be more fim and demand my credits, or am i screwed? or has anyone had an issues like this?

I love Southwest airlines but this is leaving a bad taste in my mouth.

I suggest you read this thread on Flyertalk for more information on this policy, which went into effect a few days ago. Especially, read the last few pages of the thread for current information.

Thank you, I wasn't aware of the change.

Thanks for the heads up on this. Wasn't aware of this change.

At the end of the day, I realize that this was a "take away" by SWA. However, weigh it up against the legacy carriers...

1. No baggage fees for up to two bags per person.
2. No re-issue fees.

If the OP tried to do what he did on one of the legacy carriers, he would have paid anywhere from $75-150 in reissue fees which would have totally negated the savings. So instead he can now fly more conveniently closer to home and have a $75/pp credit that's available to use for up to a year.

This is not ideal but it's still much better than the alternatives.

I agree. I would have done this deal even if I got no money back. Just flying out of my local airport VS Boston is worth it, but a $300 credit gets me back to vegas in September. The $75 I got only gets me to the next town.
I always do S/W out of Manchester.
Won't do Boston for all the reasons that you listed.

May I ask what new price of your single ticket cost ?

Rick

$240.

It was on there web site, low fare calander for about 3 days, 2 weeks ago (maybe 3)
