Taxes

My wife & I go to Las Vegas twice a year for nine days each time. We stay down town & the strip. We are low rollers who hit allthe casinos including off the strip. My wife hit a $ 3,000 slots jackpot. Soon we will be filing our taxes. I started to call the casinos for won/lost statements. They said you must make a request with a casino form that is notorized and then they will send a statement in a few weeks. as I said we hit a lot of casinos. Sounds lika a big job. Any suggestions.? Thank You.
Different casino's have different policies - MGM properties, Caeser's properties will post them online sometime after the new year - actually most of the casino's in Vegas don't require the notary part (Venetian?).

On your Federal taxes if you itemize your deductions just claim a loss of $3000. End of story. If you don't itemize, you're out of luck.

She won $3000.

montecarloss was suggesting that fvenis deduct $3000 loss against the $3000 win to prevent any tax being owed. Unfortunately most of us can come up with a $3000 loss most years. This would only be needed if a player receive a WG2.
You can get win/loss statements from Harrahs, Boyd & Stations on line (they are the only ones that matter to me). "Went thru an audit and they worked (not so for others, guess I was lucky).
