Do you have a link for this information?

It's on Fox Business.  I'm not too savvy on the copy process.   It's against Hyatt

Maybe it spreads to casino operators.

Hilarious that the state that charges its residents $10,000 each when the power goes out is outraged about $29 extra a night to stay at the Yee-haw Palace.

Since it's Texas, this has to be some kind of thinly disguised political stunt, meant to garner a few more votes for Abbott or Cruz or somebody similar. I wonder if one of them has a beef with Hyatt akin to Florida Man's beef with The Mouse.

EXTREMELY hilarious to see the Cow Turd State getting in line with a Biden administration policy. You can't make this shit up!

Kevin doesn't realize that that not one Texas citizen paid the utility pricing that he mentions.

Yeah. Sure. Boiler claims to know a lot of things, including the utility bills of every Texan.

Yee-haw!

Hotels (anywhere, politically motivated or not) can include 'Resort Fee $35 per night' or whatever in the advertised rate.  But until they ennumerate the benefits included in that Resort Fee, and give the patron the choice to accept or opt out of those benefits, and still honor the reservation at the stated room rate minus the Resort Fee, it is a deceptive practice IMHO.

So what might they say is included in the RF?  Some people don't use the pool anyway; a daily newspaper (remember when a paper was left at every room); telephone call charges are passe since everyone has their own cell phone; access to the exercise room (again, many don't care).  I'm guessing if those are declined (along with the Resort Fee) they'll start adding ice machine access; bellman service; housekeeping/fresh linens (which is already hitting the skids in different ways).  They might as well just increase the room rate instead of pissing people off by calling it a Resort Fee, as if somehow that made anybody feel 'special.'  Short-hair special is what it is.
