Times Up Steve Wynn

Gee, black jack, your eloquence , thoughtfulness, and breath of knowledge upon this subject knows no bounds - it must be exciting and ever so rewarding to be an idiot savant.

So in other words - you've got nothing....

Two New Developments Today:

1.  In 1998 The Las Vegas Review Journall killed a story and ordered the destruction of evidence they had collected in support of a story that Wynn had sexually harassed employees.

Claims that casino developer Steve Wynn sexually harassed employees could have surfaced years ago but the Las Vegas Review-Journal in 1998 stopped publication of a story that would have brought the issue to light. After killing the article, the newspaper ordered the reporter who wrote it to delete it from the newspaper’s computer system.

In a lawsuit, a Mirage cocktail server alleged supervisors did not protect women from gamblers who harassed them. She said waitresses were sent to sexually “accommodate” high rollers at the resort’s luxury villas throughout the 1990s.

Another server, upon bragging about her first grandchild in the early 1990s, reportedly was pressured into having sex with Wynn, who said he wanted to experience sex with a grandmother, according to a court filing.

2.  The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Wynn set up an LLC for the purposes of hiding the 7.5 million dollar settlement he paid to his victim.   In other words, he pulled a Trump.

I wanted to read the Wall Street Journal story, but it will not post. Please repost so that I can read their unabaised accounting of Wynn's deed.

WSJ Story  Oh, and while I am at it, here is a new story on the grandmother that Steve forced to service him.

The grandmother, who is now 75, spoke with the Review-Journal last week on the condition that her name not be used. At the time she worked at The Mirage, she was a single mother supporting eight children. Her supervisor told her she had to meet Wynn’s demands to keep her job, according to her account and a sworn statement by Wiggins.

In the interview, the woman confirmed the details of her interactions with Wynn and said she had sex with him on multiple occasions and endured sexual harassment for about a year beginning in the late 1980s.

“I did it willingly, because I felt like I had to,” she told the Review-Journal. “I didn’t really want to. I was afraid for my job.”

He has officially resigned from His ceo position at Wynn.    You can expect a significant sell off in shares tomorrow.   Reportedly  the bench is not very deep At Wynn.    Rumors are already circulating about selling out

That is the problem when you have a board comprised of yes men and women.  There is nobody that can run the company when the time comes.  An independent board wouldn’t have expressed remorse at Wynn's resigination.  They would have said good riddance and would have already started taking steps to save the company.

I don't know Steve Wynn, and if his accusers are correct, what he did was wrong.  But there sure is a lot of hate for him.  I personally smile every time I see the Bellagio fountains or visit any resorts he built.  His character is in question, but he did have a vision when it came to what would draw visitors to Vegas.

What he is being accused of isn’t just hitting on females that worked for him.  In the two most publicized incidents the accusations are rape.  It is hard to believe he would have paid out 7.5 million dollars if there wasn’t something to that manicurist’s claim.  That isn’t a nuisance payoff.  That is an oh, my god, I did something awful and there is damning evidence I did it, please don’t report me payoff.   Various investigations are still going forward in multiple jurisdictions.  Assuming these claims end up being corroborated and or more victims come forward, how can you walk down the strip and smile when you see The Wynn knowing it is named after a serial rapist?  It would be like if Subway had been named Jared Fogle’s.  You just don’t have a sustainable brand anymore.

Sports stars get a slap on the wrist for their actions, and are still adored, but Wynn is being tried in the arena of public opinion and is paying a far worse price.  Steve Wynn as a businessman helped energize Las Vegas.  Steve Wynn as a person - I'll withhold judgement for now.
