Wise. Avoid sharing spit. Probably just another excuse to meet and greet and eat on their governments' dime, like most so-called professional meetings. Ever heard of Skype? Can't they do something like that?

There was a recent death in Washington State recently due to COVID-19.
I stopped shaking hands months ago-just fist bumps for me.
The local pharmacies are OUT of masks.Just carry antiseptic wipes, people.
This virus will NOT affect my 'Vegas plans.
I'll see what percentage of people are wearing masks at the FSE in 8 days.
Many casinos have installed extra hand sanitizers. The coin-in casinos still have "Handy Wipes".
- Avoid long crushing buffet lines.
- If you see Cousin Eddie sneezing over the rice pudding, pass.
- No hookers.
- If a dealer looks pale, coughing on the cards, move to another table. If he passes out, leave the casino.
- Get your flu shot if you haven't already (seriously).
This is a novel virus; never before in the US (or anywhere) and therefore no herd immunity; no vaccine; community transmission highly possible without herd immunity. Getting influenza vaccine gives best chance to reduce the lethality of coronavirus (or influenza).
Those at highest risk and candidates for testing:
- Have travel history and showing symptoms.
- Have underlying medically compromising conditions already--immunosupressed, lung disease, kidney disease, diabetic, elderly (over 60!) with symptoms, other chronic conditions.
Testing equipment is limited though they are working 24/7 to crank out more. As more people rule in to be tested, the number of cases will "rise" simply because of comfiirmation by testing. There are likely some 'walking infected' right now, may not feel ill or minimally ill.
CDC initially required facilities to send test speciments to their own lab in Atlanta, but have now approved health care facilities to perform testing locally. Local POSITIVE test results still must be sent to CDC for confirmation, but a local POSITIVE test is considered presumptive for purposes of care as indicated by the patient's condition.
Masks are of limited value, BTW. Read about it.
Avoid all human contact and start digging a hole in the ground that you can hide in until all this is over and you can emerge again. Coronavirus victim zombies will be slow and easy to kill; just remember that you have to shoot them in the head.
Other protective measures involve paddling your kayak to an uninhabited island and waiting for four years a la Tom Hanks; sealing yourself into an acrylic capsule with hopefully enough food, water, and oxygen to wait things out; or taking an Elon Musk rocket up to the International Space Station, which is probably virus-free. You'll have to volunteer as a janitor or something, otherwise they won't feed you.
OR...you could just monitor yourself for symptoms, practice good basic hygiene, and keep yourself within reach of medical facilities. Like you would do if there was a flu outbreak.
I like the Space Station idea. Do they have slots? LOL
Kevin is right about monitoring yourself. And, if you suspect you have travel exposure and feel sick, call before running to urgent care or ER. Answer their questions and follow their instructions (whether to come in or not). If you must go in, immediately inform them that you suspect the virus. (Same for flu.) They can implement some sort of containment strategy right away, sort things out.
The Space Station has fullpay video poker! But if you stay there, the resort fee is a killer--it's over $1 million per day. Parking (they call it "docking" up there) costs $300,000.
Ha ha ha ha Kevin! I should have figured.
My infuenza immunization was a TWO-FER.One poke in September and one in December.
My immunization solution: Drink lots of alcohol. The virus cannot survive in my blood stream after eleventeen beers."Bring me a wheel chair!"I can still shoot craps,if I have a pillow under my skinny butt.No wheelies,Dave.
Dave, if your theory is sound, we'll see millions of people descending on hospitals, demanding their immunity twelve-packs. Is there enough Budweiser to protect the entire population? I think I'd better run down to the 7-11 right now.
