Vegas Could Soon Cost You More

Not exactly a surprise, is it?

Nice to see them being so candid about their new policy of, "Fuck all those people who don't want to spend gobs of money, let's kick them out." Not that, as you say, it's a surprise to hear that.

Really, why is there the slightest reason to visit Vegas anymore? Assholes.

To me, there is nothing new here. The man speaking is correctly stating facts.

The difference is that until this, every statement I've seen from one of those suits justifying the latest gouges (generally or specifically) has been some kind of disingenuous crap about how they're enhancing the customer experience or some other such tommyrot. To be baldly told, "Stay the hell away, we don't want your kind" is actually rather refreshing, a considerable improvement on the former "We (heart) all of you pigeons" message.

I'm over all this F1 crap.  At the very least, it's an inconvenience with all the construction going on to host this "race".  It's giving these casino execs a reason to gouge, I mean charge more for rooms.  Going forward, what will the view of the Bellagio fountains from the street look like?

I'm also over all the increase in prices with little or nothing to show for it.  I don't care about professional sports.  I don't care about fancy restaurants.  I don't care about many of these so-called headliners nor do I care about the over-priced dance clubs.  I didn't go last year for the first time since 1997, and this year isn't looking very likely.  I'd rather spend money to go to the Caribbean than to go to a Vegas that has morphed into a monster for young, the rich, and the wannabe rich.

I'm actively looking for a new gambling destination.   Already have Reno booked....but I also want something east of Mississippi thats worthwhile.  I hvent been to Atlantic City in ages.....or Tunica for that matter.     I see St Louis has several casinos with good VP.   MIght try there.

Reno / Tahoe will likely be our next gambling destination. Anyone interested in sharing some decent hotel / casino options there..feel free to share. We've been to Reno once..moons ago..and are uninformed about current places / locales that just might offer some value in the area. The only conglomerate ties we might have there are with CET ( for free rooms, etc.)

Reno/Tahoe offers some casinos that aren't part of the casino megablob corporations...and thus, offer good value. In Reno, on the south side of town, the Atlantis and Peppermill are near and compete fiercely with each other--VP, food, and room rates FAR better than what Vegas offers now. In Sparks, Western Village has good VP and great food (low room rates, too). The Nugget in Sparks is also worth checking out for room rates.

Tahoe won't be particularly cheap this time of year, but it's so beautiful up there now...and BTW, Carson City has a few casinos and is halfway between Reno and Tahoe and can serve as a home base to visit both places.

You'll definitely find better value, the gambling will be MUCH better, and the weather will be nicer. Visit Reno/Tahoe, you'll never want to go back to Vegas again. Oh, and Reno's airport and traffic are NOT existential agonizing clusterfucks.

Of all the eastern US gambling destinations I've visited, the only one I could stand was Gulfport/Biloxi. The area has lots to do besides gambling, and the climate isn't as sticky-icky-buggy as other places in the South. Tunica is an isolated dump; Shreveport has all the charm of a hog rendering plant, and none of the various standalone Injun casinos (Foxwoods, Parx Philly, etc. etc.) do much for me. And if I ever again voluntarily set foot in Atlantic City, please shoot me.

I think Reno/Tahoe is by far the best choice--lots to do in the area, much better gambling than Vegas, lower prices, and far better weather. Oh, and it's a beautiful area, unlike Vegas, which is an old hag with leprosy.

There are Caesars properties in both Reno and Lake Tahoe, and they'd be the choice strictly from the free room standpoint. I'm sure there are better, more player-friendly gambling options than these CET options, but the approach would result in lodging cost savings.
