Vegas golf in January

Just curious if anyone has played golf in January in Vegas?  Is the weather decent keeing in mind I am coming from the midwest so upper 50's is considered mild by our standards.  Looking for any course suggestions for a mid January work trip.

Thanks

There are some really nice municipal courses in the northwest and southwest suburbs. Since I'm a crappy golfer, I prefer the less difficult courses, but you may want something more challenging.

The weather in January is usually OK. However, occasionally, a cold front moves in and it gets cold and rainy.

I haven't played a course in Vegas in quite a while so I probably can't help you from personal experience.  I stay in Mesquite and have played the courses there plenty of times.  Having played winter golf in CO, I always preferred a sunny, calm day.  Here is a website that has a list of courses you may want to look into.  Having coached boys golf in CO and CA and having played in many So Cal city championships in my younger days, I would still like a course that would challenge my skills.  I suspect you would also.  Enjoy.  https://www.18away.com/best-budget-friendly-golf-courses-las-vegas/

If your primary reason for visiting is to ply golf I'd say it's worth the 90 minute drive and go to Mesquite which has better courses at better prices.    I played nine holes at the course by Rampart casino a long time ago.    It was nice but not worth what they were charging.     That's by and large the narrative I hear about all of the nicer courses in town.

Vegas wouldn't make my top 20 list of golfing destinations.

Thanks all.  I have played in Mesquite on a guys golf trip, excellent courses, but this is just for 1 maybe 2 rounds as my customers are in Vegas proper and im there for a few days only so the travel time to Mesquite is a factor.

I'll check out the 18away website.

Thanks all heres to hitting them straight...which I rarely do

Boulder City, Boulder Creek, and Black Mountain are nice and affordable courses about a 25 minute drive from the city center.

I agree, the more fancypants courses are overpriced. That's what sparked the development of Mesquite. I believe that all three of their courses are exact copies of fancy ones in Vegas. Much cheaper though.

And you can easily make it a destination. Several hotel/casinos. One place, the Oasis I think, has a genius offer--spa treatments for her and golf for you.

I don't hit them straight. I instead aim for obstacles like trees, buildings, etc. with the goal of getting a favorable ricochet.

I am also consoled by the fact that I am getting over twice as much golf as the other players. Who gets more amusement on a par 5, the guy who swings 5 times or the guy who swings 14 times? I rest my case.

Check out the three courses I mentioned in a previous post in this thread.

Angel Park in Summerlin is not bad and there are  3 casinos close by.    Some friends played the public coarse by downtown last year.  It might be on washington or vegas a couple miles north west of the plaza..  I have played a couple of others, but it has been awhile and family got me on  back them. I have been checking the last two years wanting to get a storage locker to keep some clubs out there so we can play, but it has been hard finding good cheap golf and cheap lockers.  Let us know what you find.

In the past I played Black Mountain a number of times but it has closed.  I played a few rounds at Wildhorse and enjoyed it.  I've also enjoyed playing at the Mesquite courses.  Also, the new owners of the Casablanca Resort in Mesquite have made major upgrades.

I'm not a golfer, but I've been a chauffeur regularly for one of my sons, who plays every time we visit Las Vegas. He suggests checking out Paiute. Three absolutely beautiful courses out there with great views of Mt. Charleston. January weather is usually pretty cool, but plenty of sunshine. May the course be with you!
