I usually make a trip in October with my primary purpose being to get in the last 3 or 4 rounds of my season (My home season is usually late April to Mid-October). For reasearch I go onto VIP golf https://www.vipgolfservices.com/ to get an idea of course conditions, costs, etc. They do a good job of keeping everything up to date and you can call to see if they are what you are looking for.
