Anyone with a basic understanding of how Vegas works knows how to get free/discounted rooms, food and freeplay.
You sit down and play for awhile.
That's it.
No need to buy cards.
Last year I played for an hour or so before a show at the D. Now I get "buy one night, get one free" offers and $10 food coupon for their cafe.
A few years ago I played for an evening at the Tropicana. I got three free nights and $600 in FREEPLAY and discounts in their eateries.
It is not hard.
I bought the LVA Membership book this year for $37.
These are the benefits I know I will use or have already used this year.
Likely I will use some show discounts as well.
The LVA book sure helps to cut costs when you are traveling with a friend.
$10 off Planet Ho buffet
2 for 1 at the Fremont buffet
2 for 1 at the Golden Nugget buffet
2 for 1 at the Main Street Station buffet
2 for 1 at Mirage buffet
$25 off Harrah's buffet
Ellis's Island 2 for 1 Entree
Pizza Rock 2 for 1 slice
2 for 1 burgers at Burger Brasserie
Plaza $5 freeplay
Binions $10 freeplay
El Cortez $10 freeplay
4 Queens $10 freeplay
Las Vegas Club $5 freeplay
There is approximately $150 to 200 of benefits right there. And I am only using a fraction of what is on their list. AND I only paid $37.

"3) Why would I want to buy something that only "gets me my money back in one trip?" I only take one, maybe two trips to Vegas each year. I'm not looking to shell out $50, $100 or $500 for a membership just to break even. There needs to be compelling value, especially at the higher dollar amounts!"
