Vegas tipping drops drastically as visitors say service doesn't match higher costs

Of course...it was Fox Nooze, so the truth of that "reportage" was...dubious. Sure, they found somebody to grumble that nonsense. Probably at the end of a long shift when her feet were hurting. Very unlikely to be truthful, let alone representative.

Makes me wonder just how dumb Fox Nooze thinks its viewers are. Are we really to believe that this waitress, or any other, delivers TEN DRINKS and ONE PERSON gives her a dollar?

I'm perfectly willing to believe that their tip income is down. But there's no way to verify it, because they don't report their tips directly to management (they, of course, report them all on their tax returns, har, har). I ain't gonna shed no tears, though. Back when I worked in Vegas, a good cocktail waitress, working anywhere but the worst joints, could set aside enough money to buy a new car for cash in a year--and many that I knew did just that. It's still a terrific job in terms of making good money with NO skills and NO education (tits, yes).

Save your moronic Fox bashing when you can back up your post. The same info was reported by the New York Post"Tipping in Las Vegas drops drastically — tourists say service doesn’t match higher costs" --Tipping in Sin City is reportedly down by as much as 50% among servers, as some of them blame the economy and policy while others point to high prices, a tipping backlash and poor service. On Reddit’s r/VegasLocals forum, one cocktail waitress wrote, “I used to average about 80 cents a drink. Now I’m averaging about 10 cents.” “We are working triple what we used to and making a quarter of what we did,” another person added on the forum. -- https://nypost.com/2025/08/09/lifestyle/tipping-in-las-vegas-drops-drastically-tourists-say-service-doesnt-match-higher-costs/#:~:text=Las%20Vegas%20servers%20say%20they,tipping%20backlash%20and%20poor%20service.

What one disgruntled cocktail server and a couple of randos on Reddit say isn't news of any kind, and means less than nothing. Fox Nooze, however, has a well-known disregard for the truth. They've lost millions in lawsuits because of that.

You don't have to leap to their defense just to show your loyalty to your orange master.

"Reportedly" also means nothing, unless it's corroborated. Fox Nooze "reports" a citywide trend based on the bleatings of what...three people?

Ludicrous.

You are the one who singled out and bashed Fox news. Loyalty? "one disgruntled cocktail server and a couple of randos "? - I corrected your incorrect posting. Try telling the truth - backed up with provable facts.

Pretty hilarious to use the NY Post to corroborate Fox.

Yeah, those familiar with the OP know that he never uses legitimate sources.

There is no shortage of rumors regarding Vegas, but it's kind of silly for a "Nooze" outlet to cite a rumor and then treat it as fact. There's actually no way to determine present tip volume or anything to compare it to.

I'm still laughing about that waitress who told Fox Nooze that she gets tipped $1 for every ten drinks she serves. They took it at complete face value (and so did the OP!). 😂😂😂😂😂

It is crazy! It would almost be like news outlets reporting the border czar had the border under control or that Joe Biden was sharp as a tack. So wild how news outlets just run with these stories! 🤣🤣🤣

Well, since no news outlet, legitimate or Fox, ever reported such a thing, I'm not sure what you're getting at...but I doubt that you really don't understand that the testimony of three people about an industry employing thousands doesn't constitute an actual news story. And no actual news outlet would have listened to, let alone published, the testimony of Ms. Ten Cents a Drink.

I just don't think Fox CNN MSNBC or most other outlets are news stations. Most of what is seen and shared is political leaning op ed stuff.

The asinine tipping situation has only gotten worse. As long as people keep accepting and working at low paying jobs, the brainwashing of customers will continue with the customers being expected to supplement these workers salaries with tips.  Employers love it because they can pocket more of the money that rightfully should be paid to employees. Speaking only for myself, I only tip for the service provided, and the amount I tip is at my sole discression. I will not allow myself to be "brow beaten" into feeling that I "owe" these employees my hard earned money just for them doing the job they were hired for and accepted. If businesses and their employees are unhappy with my tipping guidelines, fine, I can and will take my business elsewhere to other businesses that want and appreciate my business.

Sounds like somebody trying to justify the $1 tip they left for a $25 dinner.
