Vegas trip planning

Thank you so much for the information.  I appreciate your kindness.  I saw that you're not a fan of Station Casinos.  I was just sent a letter by them indicating that their credit card association with FNBO will be ending on May 2nd.  It was nice to be able to get points from using the card on occasion.  But it does little good now since the buffet is gone to the big buffet in the sky.

The good news is that the South Point buffet is still alive and kicking (very much so) and a relative bargain, if you avoid the specialty nights or have a weekday breakfast or lunch. And of course we have the Palms LVA coupon--and I wouldn't use it on Lobster Frenzy Night, but rather, a night when it's regular price--lots and lots of good stuff, and you won't miss the lobster.

For what it's worth, each of the above two casinos are independently owned, and march to the beat of their own drummers. As primarily locals' casinos that nonetheless attract a lot of out-of-towners, they have a unique marketing strategy that includes (God forbid!) the preservation of buffets and overall reasonably priced food--and decent gambling, too. Good places to visit after the Strip makes your wallet cry out in pain and you want to vomit.

@Mark Sugai...Thanks for the comments..and enduring the post.

@O2BnVegas ...Thanks for your response. Yes, as we've aged our approach has changed as well. I don't stay up all night as before..harboring those feelings that I'm gonna miss out on something important if I don't run somewhere to redeem a matchplay or get a $1 hot dog just because it's a good deal. We're somewhat approaching that Vegas vegetative state you referred to ( I'm usually back to the room by 2  a m these days, which is relatively early by my historical Vegas standards)..and enjoying the escape we've funded for perhaps different reasons.

Miss reasonable buffets too. I agree with South Point and Palms.

MGM buffet not bad. I read Strat has a buffet haven't tried it.

Buccanal at Caesar's has it all Expensive Yet takes points for payment

if you have some. Plus they take reservations.

Agree with everything Mr. Lewis said. I trek out to South Point every trip to bask in the glow of their old (and separate) race and sports books and to sample the buffet. Plus occasionally I can catch my childhood crush, Sheena Easton, who will be at SP later this month.

Also want to give Mr.Miller props for his Tuscany recommendations. I try to stay there at least one night each trip, preferably two. The various promos prop up the video poker some, and if you bet sports, they have a satellite Circa sports book, which is usually my first option for checking futures. Nice place. Good dining.
