Vegas wins more of our money than ever before! Woo hoo!

According to today's news posted by LVA, the casinos won $1.23 billion from us last month, surpassing the previous record by $50 million! Vegas took more out of our pockets than it ever has! Cue the dancing girls and the fireworks! What money goes to Vegas stays in Vegas! Hoo bloody ray (cow fart)!!!!!

I'm (sniff) so happy...

Not that it comes up in daily conversation, but I have heard 'casino friends'  interpret a "casino win" report as meaning players had been winning more during the reporting period.  Like..."Yay, I hope it is still that way when we get there."

Doh....well, whatever makes their day.  "Casino win" is misleading to the lambs.

There's a one-panel comic strip called "Mister Boffo"--a regular feature is "People Unclear on the Concept."

This isn't new to gambling, actually. When the Strip casinos were phasing in 6:5 blackjack, Bally's advertised that it was "by popular demand," while a couple of other casinos advertised, "Other casinos pay 3 to 2, but WE pay 6 to 5!!!" Really. They must have found that for some percentage of the numbskull gamling public, 6 to 5 represented a larger payout than 3 to 2, because, uh, 6 is larger than 3. DAWWWWWWK!

For the life of me, I can't fathom why the casinos would crow about these numbers. Doesn't that mean, "HEY! You're losing more than ever!!!!"?

I remember when Bally's had that on their sign. I remember quite a few years ago I ran into a guy I used to work with at an Indiana casino ( our home state, Ohio didn't have casinos yet) I was playing .25 9/6

J o B  he was playing .25 8/6 or 8/5, I can't remember. But I do remember pointing out a 9/6 machine to him that was right behind him. His response was " that's ok, I don't get that many full houses."
