We got long hauled !!

We recently took a cab from McCarran Airport to Bally's. When I got into the cab I told the foreign driver No Tunnel. Well he proceeded to blast his Ethiopian Music and took us way the heck out of the way. I know because I've made the trip many times. When I said to my husband we are way out of the usual way, he turned up the music. He took us through 6 extra stop lights that seem to take forever! When we finally got to Bally's ( mind you very little traffic on Thurs at 7:00 p.m.) he than says that will be $22.00. Are you serious ? That's exactly what he got. I took a picture of his name and picture and he knew it too.
On our way home I talked to the our cab driver who told me I should have refused to pay him and called the number listed in the cab right than and there. Her charge was $13.50. Anyone else have the same experience ?
Well, I would have handed her a twenty for fare and told her thank you.
That's exactly what I did !

Well then, does that mean that you give the Driver $22 or $20? I ask this because in your original post you said that the total was $22 but when thebeachbum said that s/he would have given the Driver $20 and then you said that's exactly what I did, that questions whether what you gave the driver was $22 or $20?

What the cab driver did is truly rotten and yes, you should have called the Taxicab Authority immediately and refused to pay the driver the jacked up longhaul price!

I paid the first driver exactly $22 and gave the second driver $20. Sorry if I didn't make myself clear !
I would have given the first cabby $10 for the trip. If he said anything. I would have said ok lets call the Taxicab Authority and let them decide.
I will know next time ! Thank you
I never get long hauled - I always rent a car. There is no way I would let some ignorant POS thief ruin the start of my trip in Vegas. I view taking a cab in Vegas as an invitation to be ripped off.
I was long hauled from the airport to the Venetian once and when we arrived I told the driver I was calling the Taxi Authority and he argued for a second and I told him ok we will sit here until they get here and he said you do not have to pay for the ride we got our luggage and left.
We need to not pay them, this is the only way it will stop, casinos should be on their asses, who wants to start a vacation that way.
