What do you consider a Casino's least effective marketing tactic?

Awesome...thats how Terrible's used to be. You could trade your slot points in for merchandise in their big room of trailer-trash-treasures. The most coveted item was a black-n-white-tube TV that you could put in your truck. Needed a shitload of slot points to get that thing.
not sending me any decent offers or bounce back cash after losing the farm.
Shopping offers. I really don't like to shop.
Advertising room rates that seem to be a market value and then adding on the Resort fee of +$25.00 or more in some cases is a real joke in advertising low room rates...Giving a person a hassle over a LVA coupon that amounts to maybe a $5.00 or $10.00 in some cases that it's intended use is to on bring customers in..Resort Fees happen all over (OK) but in a lot of cases it not where you lose money gambling while staying.....

I totally agree with "thegreek". If you are insistent on charging a resort fee - I get it. But include it in the rate you are quoting to the public. Do NOT slide it in after the customer has said "Yes, I'll stay at your property". Only thing worse is a "Complimentary" or "Free" room that the property tries to tack a resort fee on top of. In my book it is no longer "free".

I recently took my first trip the the Beau Rivage in Biloxi & left them plenty of money.
Last week I received a letter, not a flyer, but a folded up handwritten letter. I was stoked to see my free room/food/free play offers that awaited inside.

Their offer - a "Casino Rate" of $79 Sun - Thurs Night and $10 in Free Play.

Um...

Both my wife and I just received invites from Sams Town in Tunica offering a free scoop of ice cream...WOW!
a scoop of ice cream -- that's a good one. certainly worth the drive to tunica. what is wrong with these marketing people?
Petty offers or "line-standing opportunities" are insulting. Offers for free steak knives, T-shirts or other near-worthless junk are quickly tossed into the trash.

About all I want is free play in reasonable amounts, free rooms, match plays in reasonable amounts, airfare, and Visa, airline, or gasoline gift cards in reasonable amounts. The rest is fluff not worth my time.
Bear-

Well said. We will be heading to Las Vegas in a week and our trip is built around free rooms, free meals and free play.
Agree completely about the "line standing opportunities" which has always been inexplicable to me- why would a casino want potential gamblers standing in line when they could be playing?
