What do you consider a good hotel rating on tripadvisor?

Just curious , how do you use tripadvisor for hotel ratings. My example, when I look at Las Vegas hotel reviews, I consider staying at a hotel based on reviews and if it is rated in the top 100 out of the total numbers of hotels in LV. what are your peramaters?
I look at both how it rates compared to all other hotels in that area, plus the number of bad comments to good on the first page or two of comments. I know sometimes competitors post bad reviews, and maybe the hotel itself posts good reviews for itself. But if there are only a few bad reviews compared to a ton of good reviews, then I'm more likely to take a chance on that hotel, because I know no hotel is perfect.
I mostly just look for red flags: bed bugs, credit card theft, shabby furnishings. I dont pay much attention to the "bad service" comments. You can get good or bad service just about anywhere..and I'm not very high maintenance when it comes to that stuff
Lots of the things that people complain about are their own fault, like not reading fine print, resort fees etc.. I always look at the Terrible reviews on Trip Advisor. If the place is really bad then the Terrible reviews will include things like PJ was talking about like bugs, dirty linens not things like " I locked my keys in the car and they charged me when the locksmith came" or " I booked the non refundable rate and they would not give me my money back when I had to cancel". Both of those are real ones I have seen...not word for word but close.

Some hotels (fiesta henderson) give you a coupon for a free night when you write a review on TA and show it to them. So naturally, FH has a fairly high rating on TA, when in fact, most rooms are tired and shabby. The reviews also do not always tell you that it is located miles from everything.

The casino is one of the best, but the rooms are not. Don't trust the reviews on TA.

If you are new to Las Vegas, the best place to ask is right here.

I ignore each end - excellent and terrible - and base my opinion on a middle average
