What is a Dotty's?

If anybody wants to see Dotty's, better hurry, as Clark County Board, in an extraordinarily anti-free market vote, has now decided to write an ordinance to force Dotty's to remake themselves as taverns, or go out of business. Since the ordinance exempts entities existing prior to 1995, when Dotty's started in Vegas, it is clearly aimed right at them.

Now, I am not always in total agreement with the libertarians, but if this isn't a case of government interference with a business that is doing just fine I don't know what is.
From what I understand, Dotty's was skirting the law by operating essentially small casinos but paying a smaller, flat, per-machine tax on the machines (like tavern owners) compared to the rest of the casinos who have to pay a percentage of their take to the state in tax.

While the latest legislation is clearly written to target Dotty's, it seems like they were actually taking advantage of the system up until now.
Be that as it may, I find it odd that something as obvious as a casino chain is allowed to stay in business for 16 years , and all of a sudden it's a problem. Why grandfather establishments older than dotty's if this is such a problem?
Re. Dotties.

Classic example of big brother messing with the people. I own a sports bar in California and we are required to have X percentage of our sales to be food. What a load of BS, our customers decide what to purchase. I say go to the Tea's and Libertarians. Personal accountability rules. I have always liked Nevada for their love of freedom, it seem like too many Californians?

This is strictly a case of the big boys (Station Casinos and Boyd) putting the pressure on the County commissioners. While Stations and Boyd were rolling in the money, they had no problem with Dotty's. Now that revenue has fallen, they want someone to blame, so they asked the commission to address the issue. Instead of offering a good gamble for your buck to draw you into their casinos, they decided to go after the little guy who they think is stealing their business - just my own opinion.

That's not true. You can open a sports bar in California and have zero percent of your sales be food.

Come clean, you're not telling the whole story.

Pure libertarianism is not bad as an ideal. I would submit that the Tea Party does not represent this. Aggressive promotion of socially conservative values thru legislation seems pretty "big government" to me.
