As far as I know, the "ball spinner guy" is actually called a "Croupier" (pronounced I think "Croo-pee-yay"). There actually was a theatrical movie called "Croupier" about this kind of character.

Years ago I was at Caeser's Palace and walked up to a Roulette table I put a single $1 chip on number 23 and the croupier snottily said that I didn't meet the min.bet. So I put the only other chip I had down on it which was $25.00 chip and I won. I walked away with my winnings
Gonna make me want to try roulette!!
My all time favorite gambling story, from July 2011...

Today at the four Boyd casinos (Orleans, Gold Coast, Sam's Town, Suncoast) they had drawings to give away about $220K left from their June/July Wednesday kiosk swipe giveaway promotions. 5 drawings starting at Noon with 11 players randomly selected as winners. The 11 players picked from 11 envelopes - 10 of them had $500 and one had $5000 at each drawing - first name drawn picks first and so on.

Time for the noon drawing, 11 names picked - 6 don't show. They pick 6 more - 3 don't show. They pick 3 more - 2 don't show. They pick 2 more.... and one of them is me! Cool! Ha! Lucky me!

There are 9 players ready to pick envelopes in front of me. I am STOKED to win $500. WOOHOO! I turn to lucky player #11 and joke (ok, only half-joke) that if the $5K is still on the board when it gets down to the two of us that we should split $5500.

Player after player pick... after 6 of them all pick $500 I re-offer the split to player #11. He's not jumping at it.

Player 7 picks... $500. The crowd murmurs...
Player 8 picks... $500. The crowd gets louder

Oh **** please don't make me make me pick from two envelopes for $5000. I'm an AP not a gambler! I turn to player 11 and say "Last chance... split the $5500, winner takes an extra 10% for the taxes." He doesn't say yes... and player 9 is opening the envelope....

$500. The crowd howls...

Oh dear. If I pick the wrong envelope I will never be so sad to win $500 (funny how perspective can change, isn't it?!)...

As I walk up to the gallows... uh... stage... I know one thing for certain, I'm not going to choose. Luck got me here, luck has to pick the envelope. I reach in to my pocket and pull out a quarter.

I tell the MC - heads is the first envelope, tails is the second. He announces that I'm flipping a coin for it, and the crowd loves the action... I flip it high, it bounces on the stage "Oh, no please don't fall of the stage" and comes to rest.

Its heads.

The MC opens the envelope and the slowly opens the card inside...

FABULOUS story Packerfan!
Certainly one you will never forget!
I've had my share of loss stories, and a few success stories. But my favorite is when my buddy and I were playing $25 blackjack at The Golden Gate. We had the table to ourselves. I started out with $400 and went up and down on $25 bets for a while, then went on a big losing streak and lost it all. I sat there kind of shocked, it happened so quickly. I asked him to throw me a $25 chip as that's all the cash I had on me and didn't want to search for the atm. I went on a massive run and turned the $25 chip into $960. The whole time I was losing big and then winning big, my buddy sat right next to me playing and his stack never changed by more than $50.
My first time in Vegas I was of course on a very tight budget. I had played blackjack and had a silver dollar chip left. As we walked out of the casino in mid afternoon I put the single dollar on the roulette table. No one else was playing and the guy was just standing there. He spins the wheel, I decide to move the dollar over one spot. My girlfriend laughs at me and says "are you sure that's where you want it"? My number hit. And that's probably the last time I was ever close to successful at Roulette.
I was playing VP all night at the Orleans chasing a HUGE progressive at the Piano Bar! For quarters the pay out was over 2K! I lost close to $500 dollars! It was my first night in Vegas I said I am cashing it in! Took $100 and put it in the bar by the sports book. played it down to $20 on DDB Poker. I was drunk and tired of losing! Flipped the game to $1 from quarters, last four hands and time for bed got to second to last deal and had 3 hearts to the royal, kept them and nailed it for $4K with 10 bucks left in machine!
I was playing in a poker "home game" about 5 years ago and it was announced last hand of the night. The last hand was pot limit Omaha and I was dealt 2-5-6-10 with the 2 and 5 being hearts. I limped in for the $2 and saw a raise to $10. I usually fold this type of hand under a raise, but I had done pretty good that night and had turned my $100 buy-in into a stack of around $400 so I called the raise. There was five players who saw a flop of A-3-4 with the ace and three being hearts. I had flopped the nut low with a straight flush redraw for the high hand. One player lead out for $25 and I and all five players called. The turn brought the magical 4 of hearts pairing the board, but giving me the five high straight flush. The first player lead out for $50 and four of us called the bet. The river brought another ace to double pair the board. The first two players checked to me so I bet $50 hoping to get just one or two calls. The player to my left moved all in. The player that had lead out on the turn went all in. The third player folded then I moved all in. I figured at least one or both of my opponents had the nut low and i would be sharing half the pot with them. Player one didn't have a low, but had quad 4's and thought he was winning the high. The other player had hit quad aces on the river and was betting that way. I ended up scooping a $1350 pot. The only bad thing was we weren't playing at a casino, so there was no bad beat to win.
