What's your best gambling story?

About 15 years ago, I was staying at Isle of Capris in Lake Charles, LA while working in the boonies the week before Christmas. It was pretty late and decided to stay for one more more time around the table in a 3-6-12 holdem game. I hit a straight flush and my opponent and I were raising the 12 each time on the river. I stopped and we hit the bad beat. My opponent had aces full of jacks and I had the SF. He got $10,600 and I got $5,300 while the other 8 players split the other $5,300. Went home to Texas the next day and put the bills (100's) on the kitchen table. My wife came home from work and said "Not bad, what is that a hundred dollars?" I said "Honey, those ARE hundreds". We still laugh about it.
We were at The Orleans, playing the Bonus Deuces Wild Quarter Progressive machines just outside the buffet.
Rock’n Rita was sitting to my left and not having very much luck, so she decided to change machines.
As she slid over one more machine to the left, she said
“I’m moving, and taking my bad luck with me so you can now get the Royal.”
Just as she said this I was dealt the J – K – A of Spades, which she didn't see, being two machines down to my left.
I “HELD” the 3 cards to a Royal, and she continued by saying, as she was inserting her card into the machine,
“So just hit it Baby”,
and at that VERY instant I hit “DRAW" and in popped the Q and 10 of Spades for a Royal Flush !!!

Holy Cow !!!! That was very freaky

Many years ago, maybe 1989 or so, I received in the mail a coupon from Harrah's that would double any one winning VP hand up to maximum of $1000.

When you decided you wanted to be paid double for your winning hand (straight, flush, 4OK, anything) you had to stop playing, put your light on, and wait for an attendant to verify the winning hand and pay you.

I was on a good machine and got some good hands, but I kept forgetting to stop and call for the attendant and get paid double.

Then, amazingly, I got a Royal Flush (quarters, $1000), but damn if I didn't get so excited that once again I forgot and kept on playing. In about half a minute I remembered it...yikes!

I jumped up and ran to find an attendant, pleaded my story that I had gotten a Royal but forgot to stop and call them. Of course I had already played it off the screen. But, somehow, I don't recall if they checked the surveillance tape, or interrogated the machine, or they just felt sorry for me, but they gave me the $2000, and I didn't even get a W2-G. I was so grateful.

Never received another coupon like that one.
I was at the Orleans and hit 4 of a kind on Let it Ride(3 of a kind for my hand) as I was being paid the roulette table to my right had a younger guy that was trying to bet. After he finally found his ID he put $50 on a number and he hit it. He was about to leave and one of his friends said "bet it one more time" . Second time he put $100 on the same number and it hit again.

The table went crazy... He picked up all his chips and left.

several years ago, early in the millenium, the wife and I visited Tunica (back in the days when it was a worthy trip). Little sis and bro in law were along for the trip. The first night there, I got a leetle bit too loose on the drinks. I hit 2 royals in 2 hours, both non taxable hits. About an hour later, feeling like and invincible high roller, I put $100 dollars in a five dollar machine, and immediately hit 4 aces, no kicker, a taxable hit. Well, I've since left the sauce alone. Alas, the VP hits have mostly left me alone.
