When to go????

I'm planning a trip to Vegas. I have been there many times but mostly in summer or the edges of spring or fall. I've been surfing vegas for weeks now and am ready to start making reservations. So my questions:

The biggest bargain I can find in an upscale casino (Paris) are in the middle to end of December (8 days for less than $400). That doesn't compute. That's a bazillion percent off. Am I missing something here??? I know the rodeo is in December but I'm planning on the 12th-19th and I believe the Rodeo will just be over.

But why is December so cheap???

Is the weather bad?

Are all the shows dark?

Is there a curfew?

My concern is I will miss shows I love like Blue Men, O, Ka and Amazing Jonathan.

Would someone in the know, let me know. Will I be wasting the trip by going in December?
Weather is fine in December.
Nothing wrong at all going then.
I love December in Las Vegas.
Mountain8,
December 12-19 is probably the slowest tourist time anywhere. Almost everyone is getting ready for Christmas, kids are still in school, and people are thinking of other things rather than vacations. So I think the lack of bookings is why discounts are very deep then. But I would check what shows are dark when you go.

Have a good time!

We go to LV almost every Dec. The weather can vary and depending on where you are coming from can be really warm or cool to you. Coming from the mid west the weather seems great. It is not shorts and tshirt weather, but jeans and a jacket for the evening will do you. The wind can be quit brisk in the evening. Hiking is good as you don't have to worry about the heat. Pools are closed. Some show and restaurants close, but in exchange alot of the places decorate for Christmas including Fremont St. Check in advance if you are dead set on seeing a show to make sure they will not be dark. If it is not posted on the website--give em a call they will happy to let you know.

We are going from December 17th to the 24th. We are low-mid range gambles, and we got 5 free nights at all of the Harrah's properties but Caesar's Palace. So our total hotel bill for the whole week will be around $150.

Definitely a great time to go.

I have been many times in December and enjoyed it. The weather is fine, only once once it cold but you can pop into a casino to wam up. low crowds, good time to go. I prefer summer because i love the pools but dec. is fun too.
There may be a few shows that are dark, but I have gone to Las Vegas most every year in the December and I agree that it is a great time to go. While there aren't as many decorations as you would expect, Bellagio's Conservatory is always beautiful, and worth a trip.
Palazzo also does a good job decorating their lobby and shopping mall, and the Wynn's lobby and atrium is filled with lights and pointsettias. The fact that the room rates are so reasonable is just one more reason to go ! The weather is cooler, but we have had a few trips in December where it was just beautiful........mid 70's during the day , just bring sweaters and coats because it can get chilly at night.
Although it has been a while since I was in LV in December, I remember encountering different types of weather. One year the high was about 70 Degrees and then another year the Highs were in the 30's and the wind was blowing!

And some shows do go dark in December, and so you should check for sure their schedules.

We go to Las Vegas every December. I think it was two or three years ago It actually snowed and pretty much closed the town down, including the Airport. (No DE-icers or snow plows) Otherwise the weather is always nice compared to July. Typically there are less people there and it is a good time to walk the strip.

Lots of people go there at that time because it's cheap to do so then. I have went many times right before X-Mas and enjoyed every trip. You can stay up as late as you want in Vegas, no curfew!!
