Where else do you vacation?

We go to Florida to get away from the NH winters. Do you have an all inclusive in Mexico you would recommend thinking of trying that in October for a week. Have stayed at RIU Palace in Punta Cana and loved it.
Every fall we spend a week on the north shore of Lake Superior in Minnesota, that time of year it is the most beautiful place on the planet. If you have never been there you should put it on your bucket list.
We've done some driving trips the last few years. 2014 a week around different parts of Wisconsin, the previous year a 17 day driving trip to Glacier National Park and the Grand Tetons, the year before that a 17 day driving trip to southern Utah, the Grand Canyon, Arizona and Las Vegas.
I plan on retiring at the end of January 2018. At that point we'd like to do a three month driving trip - just head west from Minnesota with no set destination. Then we want to go back to Europe for a three month trip (we haven't been there since December of 2008, when we visited the Christkindlmarkts in a number of German towns.)
So we might get to Vegas a couple times a year, but if not, there's a lot of other places we want to visit.

Vegas is my solo trip but then my wife and I take other trips based on other interests. Santa Fe, Taos, San Juan PR, San Diego are some of our more recent trips. With retirement looming I am expecting a lot more diversity in the trips but Vegas will be a constant at least once a year for me.
My Vegas trips have been cut back for reasons other than what the OP mentions, mostly job - related. In early - mid 2000;s went to LV 3x/year, 5-7 days at a clip. Lucky now to visit once per year.

My fiancee is from Philippines. Went there this past summer (like Vegas with East Coast humidity), then tacked on a few days in Thailand. It was my first trip out of the country. Made me feel like a new person getting out and finally seeing other countries, how other people live. I want to travel more now, see new places. Toronto (it's close/drivable), perhaps Central and Northern Europe. Would love to go see the Austrailian Open tennis tournament before lookping back into Philippines and seeing other places in that part of the world.
I agree with irishjames23 re the all inclusive resorts in Mexico.

I live in Las Vegas and Mexico has been our "go to" destination for years. Started doing the all inclusives a few years ago and its a good deal. Puerto Vallarta and Cabo San Lucas are our favorites. Bring plenty of US $1 bills. Tipping a small amount goes a long way.
Costa Rica. Excellent vacation location, with a few days in San Jose, a few days near the volcano at La Fortuna, then a few days at any one of a number of Pacific coast beach towns, Jaco being my favorite. Great country, great people, great prices.
My wife insists that we go on a cruise in June every year which is the month of our anniversary. I actually love the cruises which are usually out of the Florida area. We have mainly cruised on Carnival. For one fee you know that most everything you need is taken care of.

We do go to Las Vegas twice a year. We usually go for a couple of weeks in July and go for the week following Christmas. We avoid the strip and usually stay at the Boyd properties. Last summer we stayed 16 nights for $125. This past Christmas we stayed 7 nights for a total of $145. One of those nights included New Year's Eve. We spent virtually zero on food during both trips. We aren't really high rollers, we usually play triple play nickels. Where else can you stay that long for those prices?
