Where to spend New Year's Eve?

Hubby and I have done many NYE in Vegas. One year we even took our kids--they were early teens at the time. They talked
about the antics of the crowds (ie--drunks) for weeks after! That trip we stayed at Flamingo. We walked over to Ballys and
sat in front of Ballys with a local family that had young kids. If you stay on the Strip--watch the fireworks Close to your
hotel because the sidewalks etc are PACKED going back afterwards. . . . We had to wait almost a half hour just for the elevators
on that trip--after the fireworks. Glad we did it once. . . now we prefer to stay OFF strip for our NYE trips. Someone mentioned
skipping NYE and going during Super Bowl--I think that Super Bowl is actually busier than NYE! Also--watch out for going right after
NYE--there are a couple of HUGE conventions in town right around the first 10 days in Jan and that can also affect prices and availability.
Here is a link to an article Ms Craps wrote about NYE on the strip--even tho it's from 2005--all the advice still holds true today--
https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/vpFREE/conversations/messages/53797 -- and what she said about shoulder to shoulder people walking
back after the fireworks is VERY true! Enjoy and HAVE FUN!!!

We have had the same experience.
We did NYE once, everything comped including a suite with strip view. We enjoyed good champagne in the suite, & did venture down to the casino (what a madhouse) & back up to the room.

NYE in Vegas, once is enough.

Next year we stayed close to home.
We have never been for NYE. We are staying at Westgate/LVH this year with a comp room, dinner and party. Anybody ever done this gig here or when it was LVH? Thought it might be good for the fireworks and lack of pedestrians.
We wound up going out to Red Rock, where we're invited to the "All That Glitters" party. So that should be fun. Now, for dinner....

We've done NYE on Strip, off Strip and WAY off Strip. If we'd not largely given up on Vegas, we'd still be touting WAY off Strip. Two of our best were at the JW. Red Rock works well, too! Have fun.
