Who else could care less about video poker?

After reading these boards for years, I'm amazed at how many people are obsessed with video poker. Dont get me wrong, I dont hate it. I'll throw a few twentys in while enjoying a few drinks at the bar. But to play it for hours on end would put me to sleep. BORING!

I know to each his own. I love the craps table, and occasional BJ and roulette. Most of the VP fanatics here probably dont ever play the tables.

What bothers me the most, are the people who despise any casino that doesnt have full pay VP machines. It doesnt matter to them if the casino has great restaurants, great entertainment, nice rooms, and nice lounges. "If they dont have full pay, I'm not stepping foot in there." These people also expect to be comped generously for playing these machines.

Okay, I'm done venting. Was just curious if there are other people here who feel like I do. When I go to Vegas, I go for the whole enchilada. Full pay VP doesnt even cross my mind.
I don't get why people like to play the video game Texas Tea. I put $10 in once and the machine went through it lickety split.

And why do people pay $2 to add a fried egg to their burger when the egg can't cost more than 15 cents to the restaurant??
VP is arguably the best game for advantage players and is one of the few games a player can legitimately beat the house at without cheating or engaging in casino violations (counting cards in BJ).

I dont consider myself an advantage player and my attention span is too small to sit at a VP machine for 5 hours....but I still love the game and I actively seek out casinos with the best schedules and comps.

I dont hate casinos with bad VP but I love the casinos that do have it....especially when they couple it with great promotions and slot point multipliers. Thats just being a smart consumer. And here's a little tip. A casino's VP pay schedules are usually pretty good indicators for the player-friendliness of the rest of the games. Casinos with lots of good VP tend to also have looser slots and better rules at their tables. If the best VP game a casino has is 7/5 JOB I wouldn't bother sticking a twenty into one of their slots.
Never say never. lol

I felt like you do about Slots. But lately when I can't find decent Vp, I DO play alittle slots.
(also hoping it brings in alittle better offers)

Like the LVA member who talked about Quick Hit.
Found a few nickle versions at Wynn, and had my best luck at that silly game.
Didn't do squat at vp there.

I try to keep my mind open to Other game avenues, when one isn't working.
But usually it just means Change VP game!

I can only speak for myself, but the purpose of my trips to Las Vegas is to gamble, not for any of the reasons you mentioned. And when I gamble, why shouldn't I seek out the highest return game?

You must live close to Vegas. I'm in a Chicago suburb and I have 5 casino's within a 40 minute drive. So I would never go to Vegas just to gamble.
I play 7-5 bonus at Caesars, but I get free rooms and other comps at CAESARS!!!! so it is worth it to me not to be at Lady Luck or Casino Royal and the like, just to play 8-5 bonus. For me it is about vacation value, but I do love playing video poker, it is relaxing to me 4-5 times a year. But thats me. To each there own.
I also like the "Vegas Experience" that includes gambling, nice rooms, drinks, and usually one upscale meal. The thing is - everyone's "Vegas Experience" is different.

I live west of Kansas City so I'm in no way close. There are four Indian casinos that are within an hour drive from me. Since I'm not into playing games that are akin to throwing your money out the car window, I choose to gamble in Las Vegas. I wouldn't go to Las Vegas at all if there was no gambling. The "entertainment" and "amenities" at the hotels are of absolutely no interest to me.
I think that it depends on whether the player is just "Playing to play (that's playing for the sake of playing)" or if they're actually "Playing to Win."

There is a big difference between the two ways of playing but then again, different people have different ways of spending (enjoying) their vacation time and money.

Since this website is more aimed at helping people to get more out of Las Vegas than Las Vegas gets out of them, I think that people who come here are more likely to be of the frame of mind that they can do what they can to get a better return so they can at the very least increase their chances of being able to play for a longer time (even if they don't end up caring whether they win or lose).

And so better pay schedules will make it more likely for people to be around longer and to possibly win.

And yes, there definitely is something to be said about people getting some nice comps while playing worse pay scheduled games, so it all depends on what a person is looking to get out of their vacation.

For me, as long as the place that I'm staying in is functional enough and offers better returning VP as well as good enough comps (which are nice, extra gravy), then I'm all for it!

The comps I get are really based on my VP play (Blackjack doesn't get me much in the way of Comps since I'm a pretty low roller -- I bet about $5-$15 per hand), so I do care about VP returns and do what I can to play the game (each hand) in the best possible manner.
