Who else could care less about video poker?

Koltunowicz, if you know the game, I think you could easily introduce your wife to Pai Gow Poker, if you wanted to get her to a table. Just grab a deck at home and show her the basic mechanics of the game, it's so simple for someone who already knows VP pretty well.
Thanks for the tip, will have to give it a try this next trip
Interesting thread. It is kind of hard to argue with a player who seems to see no difference between playing full pay or short pay video poker machines and indicates that he/she is a royal flush or bust player. The casinos love that kind of player believe me.

A person who would have the Royal Flush or bust mentality will get more Royals than those who play smartly with good strategy, but it will be at a great cost of not getting other kinds of paying hands.

I feel the same way about slots. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz......... at least with VP you have decisions to make. I'm not a big VP player either but once in awhile when I want to relax and unwind from the tables I'll play some. To each their own, that's what makes Vegas great, something for everyone

I get what you're saying, but it could be argued that the person with perfect strategy play could get more royals because they will get more shots at it, by stretching their play.
Yes, Friedmush, that's what I'm trying to say!

When people make strategy errors in Video Poker, depending on what errors they make, they can lower the game's return by anywhere from an additional 2% to Six Percent! This will make even a good game go bad!

So accurate play will enable players to play longer for "luck" to come around!

This may not be the right place to ask this but I know alot of you responding know these vp programs well. First on a progressive--what points does the royal get to make a bonus poker at 7-5 a good play? also do you change your play when the royal progressive gets to a certain point? Last week at Bally's the royal suited progressive in clubs was over 1500-almost 1600 while the others were 1400+, 1200+ and just over 1000. 7-5 bonus is about the best you can find at Bally's (any Harrahs) at quarter level, my budget can't do dollar vp. I working my way up. If this new job of real estate agent would break I'd be there.
Rule of thumb: the RF is worth about 2 per cent of the total return. So if the base game has an EV of about 98 per cent (like 7/5 BP), the value of the RF needs to double in order for the game to reach 100 per cent. And yes there are strategy changes that become applicable as the jackpot increases. Programs like WinPoker or VP for Winners can be used to determine the strategy changes.
Count me in the group of VP only. You can have the tables and that's okay with me.
Frees up more VP machines for me.
