Who is everybody using for rental cars these days?

I haven't rented a car in Vegas in 12+ years. The parking fees and the fact that I like to drink in Vegas made it unwise. I am currently booked for a 4-night stay and am thinking about staying 2 more nights. I arrive early in the morning, 9:30 a.m., and my lady friend doesn't arrive until late, 10:30 p.m. We are staying on Fremont for those first two nights.

Adding up 2 rideshares to Fremont plus an extra one for me if I want to meet her at the airport, a ride to the strip after our stay on Fremont is over, a trip back to the airport for her and then a trip back for me. Plus we want to do some stuff away from Fremont and the Strip. It seems to me the rental would be cheaper.

I am seeing the best rates from Fox for a compact which gives me pause and a mid-sized via Priceline with a mystery provider.

I'd love to hear suggestions from you guys and gals who regularly rent vehicles in Vegas.  I crossed Turo off the list because Amex doesn't cover them.

Fox and Advantage have been great lately.  I use auto slash to check prices.  I usually book at least 2 good rates and then keep checking back for better deals and usually come up with something good.  Last trip I had 2 offers for under 110 all in for the week.  So far for the next trip it is 190 for the week and I always do midsize.  I just like a better ride and the visibility is just better for me.

If you are a  Costco member try booking with them.  Very easy and it lets you compare all of the main rental car brands off of the Costco website.  I usually book a car and then check weekly to see if the rate drops then cancel and rebook.  Been using them for years.

When I checked recently, Costco only quoted for Avis and Budget (same company, 2 brands) and Enterprise. Good rates, but I went with Hertz, whose service has really declined.

Check with --  liligo.com/car-rental las vegas airport  -- I have been using this site the past few months and have found the best rates ( multiple rental car dealers) with them.

I just rent from Budget.  I usually know far in advance when I'm traveling so I can usually lock in a deal or they send me free days or upgrades in emails.

Since I rent consistently with them I use the Fastlane and just go straight to the car past the 50+ people waiting in the rental lines.  Inconceivable.

I usually go with Hertz or National.  They can be more money but the cars are newer and better maintained. Hertz Gold with AAA can lower the price.  National Emerald Club has a 15% discount.  Both clubs are free to join.

I have tried to go cheap with Budget & Enterprise, cars were older and broke down.

Another option we have used is to rent away from the airport.  Example, we stay downtown, but a lot of rental car agencies have offices on the strip too, sometimes its cheaper to rent the next day from the hotel agent and just UBER to the hotel day of arrival.  If you know you are going to use the car 3 out of the 5 days you are there, you'd be surprised at the savings renting from a hotel office.  For us, the first day we arrive, is normally a day where we dont use the car other than to drive to our hotel. It takes some planning, but in the end we typically save $$$.

AARP gives you a 10% discount with Budget.     Usually after plugging in all the codes Budget/Dollar or Alamo yield the best rates for me - but they are all still high compared to pre COVID levels.

I used FOX several years ago despite many people warning about their service and shady dealings....I had no problem and did save some money.    The stories are still enough for me to avoid them, though.

Honestly, If you are going to be spending alot of time on the strip and downtown I think you are better off with Uber unless you dont mind walking alot.     When I go to the strip I park at Tuscany and walk the rest of the way to avoid parking fees.

We don't go to the strip that often, but when we do, we also park at Tuscany.  We will either eat at Marilyn's Cafe when we get there, or before we leave.  Never been any hassles with parking in their lot by the front entrance.  Always plenty of parking and they have a side lot as well.
