Why did Harrahs LV casinos remove the Star Trek slots?

Does anyone know why Ceasars/Harrahs entertainment removed all the Star Trek slot machines from their Las Vegas Casino’s. I know they have them at other LV casinos, but I try to keep my gambling to the Harrah’s properties to keep my tier level. This is a fun machine, but they have replaced them with Lords of the Ring, which is a boring game. Does anyone know if the Harrah’s properties plan on bringing back the Star Trek slots?
If they removed them, they probably aren't putting them back in. casinos are constantly taking out older machines for the next big thing. I had a hard time finding my favorite, monopoly Super Grand Hotel on my last trip. There used to be 2 at Caesars where I usually stay. now they are gone.
It was definitely fun to play. I have a feeling that they no longer wanted to pay the % to be the only casinos that had it. That gives me hope that it may show up again. Interestingly, it is still advertised on some of the casino websites.
to make room for Lord Of the Rings

I think noahcat is right - during my stay last week I noticed the Lord of the Rings slots in the locations that used to house my favorite Star Trek machines. I was not able to find any Star Trek machines in my usual haunts. That's too bad - they were fun!
Yeah, I tried the Lord of the Rings, it was no fun and everyone I sat next to that played it said the same thing I did " I wish they would bring back the Star Trek machines".
I noticed the Star Trek machines gone in the Oklahoma Casino I go to this past weekend as well. In their place were stinking Lord of the Rings machines. I be this is a National trend.
Not that I play Slot Machines, but maybe somebody should start up some kind of campaign (or petition) to bring the Star Trek machines back and tell them that the Lord Of The Rings machines are too boring!

Caesar's Windsor still has Star Trek. However, I think it's because they are slower than other Harrah's properties installing new slots on the floor. I assume it's only a matter of time before they are replaced with LOTR.

It makes sense LOTR is being placed in the same locations as Star Trek. The wiring is already there that enables the slots to connect to a server for player medal / miles tracking.

I read in Strictly Slots that the next version of LOTR, The Two Towers, is rolling out this year. Maybe that will be more exciting than version out now.
