Will casino's give you a check for cash?

Thanks for all the replys. Noahcat, if you have to go into the full body scanner, you MUST take everything out of your pockets. If you only have to do the metal detector, you can leave it in your pocket. Even though they tell you to empty your pockets, naturally the metal detector wont pick up a wad of cash.

I like the idea of having a bank account at a national bank. Can anybody clue me in on where there is one close to the strip?

the citi branch i used is at the corner of paradise five or so blocks north of flamingo. google should help. Good luck.
Two years ago at the Gold Coast i hit a RF on an STP machine for $5,000. Not thinking, I took cash. After about an hour I realized I did not want to carry that much cash and went to the cage to get a check. I was told they do not convert cash to checks and in the future I should ask for a check. This last trip i did very well and came home with over $11k in cash in my pocket. No issue at security or with the TSA. I have depositing slowly all week. Another problem I had last summer was after a couple successful trips to AC, I made some larger than normal cash deposits ($4k and $5k) into my checking account. When I applied for a new mortgage, they asked about the deposits and I had to verify where the money came from. I only had one W2G so I showed them pictures of the bigger wins. That seemed to satisfy them but from now on I keep the cash deposits smaller to avoid the scrutiny.

all in all these are not bad problems to have.

Avoiding a Currency Transaction Report (CTR) is called Structuring and it is possible to bring on more scrutiny than you think - because of something called a Suspicious Activity Report (SAR). A SAR has a lower reporting requirement than a CTR.

One year we hit two big (over 2K) royal flushes at Sam's Town. We were refused checks when we asked. They said cash only. We had a lot of cash when changing to the Orleans so we stopped at a BofA branch and purchased a cashier's check for 5K. That worked well for the return flight home. Times might have changed because last year my wife hit a large progressive royal flush at South Point. We asked for a check and the request was granted. It took about 30 minutes to get the check however. While we were waiting I hit another royal on an adjacent machine. It was only $1150 so no wait and no W2G. That was pretty cool - two royals in about 30 minutes. However 18 months later and no royals since. Sometimes life is tough.
I hit a few nice pots last week, couldn't find a casino to wire it home. Tried Wells Fargo to give me a cashiers check, they wouldn't unless I opened an account, I don't have a branch within 30 miles from me, so I just kept the money in my pocket. That made me very nervous, but at least I got through the TSA without having to take it out of my pocket.

Go to the post office and get money orders. The maximum is a 1,000 dollars. They can be cashed at
any post office.. or your local bank....
If you bank with a credit union, see if they have a shared banking branch located in Vegas. We checked on our credit union's website and they had over 10 different credit unions in Vegas where we can deposit or withdraw money. Pretty nice!
Typically take $5K in cash with me on vegas trips. I have replaced joints so, I always have the individual pat down. Was skeptical of leaving cash in the "airport basket" to go through security out of my site. When I mentioned this to TSA worker they stated "just hold it in your hand" and you will be fine. That is what I have done since and never have been questioned.
