According to an article he wrote for the Nevada Independent, the Wynn Resorts CEO wants to reopen Strip casinos in mid-May with a ton of onerous rules and procedures. Among them would be a rule that all guests in Wynn casinos will have to wear face masks.
Will people return in sufficient numbers to what sounds to me like a joyless, if not a really creepy, place as described in the article? I can understand these rules making sense for schools or houses of worship, but not for a place whose sole raison d'etre is for forgetting one's worries and just having fun. Serious gamblers are highly motivated to gamble, I realize that, but are there enough of them to populate a Strip property for it to make sense for them to reopen with these restrictive rules?
OTOH, they can't just stay shuttered until there is a vaccine. IMO, Vegas and Vegas casinos are between a rock and a hard place.
