Golden Nugget allows multiple pt buys in Hoops Was surprised to discover they allow buys of up to 2 pts (four 1/2 pts). Most places allow just the 1/2 pt buy. In most cases this is not worth it but if you can get through the 7 in the NBA it's worth the expense. Best play is to buy up on spreads of +5 to +7 and buy down on spreads of -7 to -9 providing that the Nugget line is the best available to start with.

To clarify, you just want to end up at -6' or +7', rather than buying the max number of points?

Buying the max is the better play although you could just buy through the 7. There is a compounding effect with each additional 1/2 pt you buy so each extra 1/2 pt you can get is worth a little more than if you bought it on it's own. The block of 2 pts is worth more than 40 cents so buy em all. If you have an out that allows buying 3 pts (six buys of 1/2 pt) for an extra 60 cents then you have an edge with a wider range of numbers. With the 2 pt buy I'd stick to the parameters given. It is very important to be strict with the jump point on games you intend to buy points on. You must start with the best available line. If Fremont has a +6 and Nugget has a +5.5 then just take the +6 at Fremont. Don't take a lesser number just so you can make the point buys.

The magic betting amount with these is $600 to win $400, anything attempted to win $500 or more will require approval, at least that's been my experience. Last evening Xavier was a solid +6 most everywhere with GN sporting a +6.5........took a shot and bought game to +8.5.......they lose by 8, waalah!!
