$20 trick at Golden Nugget

Anybody tried the $20 trick at Golden Nugget lately? I read where the FD clerks are under threat of termination if they except. Any truth to this?
Not exactly the $20 trick, but we always go to Vegas in December just after the National Rodeo and before Christmas.

We always bring a really nice box of Holiday chocolates from a local confectioner in our area. We almost always get an upgrade of some type.

When we went to Golden Nugget this passed December they upgrade us from the South tower to the North Tower. It was really nice and very convenient as the elevators are right off the casino.

So, yes a $20 might work.

I really do not understand the no tipping at the front desk. I mean Las Vegas is a town that lives and thrives on tokes and to single out the Front Desk Clerks is next to stupid.
however nothing would surprise me at the GN anymore.
Except what?

I would guess they meant to write "accept" the $20.00.
I'll accept that as an explanation.

That is what I ment.
I mentioned this a long time ago in regards to the $20 Trick.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>If an employee at a property gets caught accepting a tip at the front desk chances are they will be fired. This is a fact . A nice personality with or without a chocolate bar can work wonders and not jeopardize the job of the person behind the desk.
While I don't believe a desk clerk will get fired for a tip, a bribe is a different matter. If the clerk gives out a room which is a hundred bucks a night more than you paid the computer is tell on them. Why would the hotel want them to do this when they don't see any of the money. Changing for a view room or different tower though is not that big a deal.
Exactly, its the thought that counts, and nice manners are always thoughtful

I have never used a cash tip for an upgrade, chocolate and smile seems to work for me though!
