Angry Butcher @ Sams Town

Assume its the replacement for Billy Bobs, which we absolutely loved. Anyone been there yet? Made two reservations for my October trip on my gold card. Last time we were there our waiter told us about the menu items he had just sampled and how he had loved them.
hey captain, knowing your 'elite status' with the good folks at sam's town, thought you might be interested in this post off vegasmessageboard.com

"....We just came back from Vegas. I had the Gold Card at Sam's Town. It seems to have changed a bit since I saw you there in June/July. The Gold Card is good for $100 for an individual or $150 for two people. It's per day and from what I was told it is per day. If you spend less one day you cannot make it up the next.''

the wife and I will be there Oct.10-12 for 7X points promo and $10,000 cash draw with gold card amenities.
Thats interesting, appreciate the heads up. When I was there in July we were among the first to use the new gold cards (numbered 7 & 8) and there was no mention of a limitation and we ran over $150 on 2 days with no repercussions. Have not been asked for a credit card at Sams in a couple of years when checking in. This coming visit we don't get in till after 6:00, so no reservation at the steak house...guess we will buy all our sodas and candy bars for the room the first night.
Tried the Angry Butcher and cancelled our second nights reservation there (and they were both comped). It really sucks, compared to Billy Bobs. My wife even had to send back her dinner...never happened before at Sams.

This has been a big incentive on our staying at Sams (along with the suite, gold card & freeplay)...we are reevaluating future stays there.

dining at sams continues to go downhill-----can remember when they had their own coffee shop and even a retro place to eat on the 2nd floor called marys diner------only decent spot left in the place is the deli near the sports book-----
sorry to hear about your experience captain bill but don't feel like the Lone Ranger.
we, too, were disappointed after eating at the angry butcher last week. thought the steak(s) were excellent but salad and side dishes plus cheesecake all subpar compared to billy bob's
prices have jumped, everything is ala carte. even though we had a gold card (with a $150 daily limit), the dinner (with two glasses of wine) cost $147
in checking out the next morning the front desk said we had gone over our daily limit by $7 or so. In addition to dinner, I had only eaten the buffet breakfast that day while the wife slept in. I was asked if we wanted to leave the added gold card charge on our credit card.
considering I had accumulated 43,000-plus base points in three days I said no, I wanted them to call the gm's office and asked for the $7 to be comped, too. LOL. After a brief call it was taken care of, but I thought the whole thing was pretty tacky.

re. other sam's town food options; the buffet has been mediocre for a long time, items are hit and miss. snack bar/deli is still very good (great burgers/onion rings); TGIF is well, TGIF, and the barbecue restaurant still hasn't opened. we were told it will open at some point in august.

we have been loyal to sam's town for many years. still many familiar faces work there, but get the feeling they are cutting corners on a lot of things.
sorry, meant october, not august in regard to barbecue restaurant opening at st
Maybe they should change the name to "Angry Loyal Customer" - it seems only fitting considering the reviews....
Our recent meal there showed almost exactly a 50% increase compared to the same meal used to cost at Billy Bob's. For equal comparison, we ordered a salad and potato. The steak was hardly any different than the Billy Bob's quality. The salad was much better now, but should be, given that it no longer comes with the meal. In addition, the crab legs were up to $62 now and I swear the serving size is just a little over half that it was in Billy Bob's just 2 or 3 years go. Yes the place is much nicer, with white tablecloths and nice silverware, but these improvements are hardly worth a 50% increase.
Place is much nicer??? No ambiance, nothing to absorb noise, can't even carry on a conversation because of the noise. And the new one page menu sucks too.
