Best Boyd property

Which Boyd property to use my quarterly stay?  We have been staying at the Suncoast for quite a while now, but not too happy with the remodel.  Too few .25 Bonus poker.  So, do we go back to the Gold Coast or the Cal?  I can't sleep on the hard beds at The Orleans.  Which property has the most BP and good beds?  I'm thinking maybe the GC since then we could walk to the Rio and The Palms.  Going to SP too for a few nights so I know we'll have plenty of machines to play on there.

Aliante is probably the nicest if you dont mind staying way up there in the sticks.

Most of the rest of their properties are about the same echelon - nice, but not Aliante nice.

If you stay at the Cal, you'll be within easy walking distance of several casinos where you can redeem LVA coupons. The Gold Coast will put you near the Palms and Rio but not much else.

So it seems like you like a softer bed--and usually, the newer the bed, the harder it is. So you want a joint that hasn't renovated its rooms for a while..That also suggests the Cal.

You'll also be able to find plenty of 8/5 Bonus VP downtown if that's your thing.

I agree with PJ.  The Aliante has become our favorite,  Great beds, and nicer rooms than the Suncoast which was our home base before covid and the remodel.  Also it is an easy drive to downtown or Sante Fe Station or even back to Suncoast and Red Rocks.  They have good bars, and lots of video poker and not as smokey as other Boyd casinos.

The Suncoast does have the old slant tops upstairs in the bar by the bowling ally.  If you go early in the day there is no smoke and no bartender., but those are the same machines we used to love playing..  When we were at the Suncoast 2 weeks ago they had more video poker back on the floor, but it is still only half a casino with the remodel.  I think they are having a hard time finding what they want to be going forward.

Also I would choose Gold Coast over the Cal every time  Much nicer rooms and no noise from Freemont or the trains

I agree about the negatives of staying downtown in general, but it seems like Susan really wants to be able to play Bonus Poker, and downtown offers several choices as well as LVA coupons.

The problem with Aliante is its isolation. You want to go somewhere else, it's a considerable drive. Either the Cal or the Gold Coast would enable you to visit other casinos on foot. I for one hate having to fetch the car every time I want to visit another casino.

Susan wants Boyd because she has a relationship with them and offers to use, but no new customer should stay or play there; its earn-no-points bottom tier (Ruby) is simply a slap in the face. And you don't climb out of that tier very easily. And when you do, if fifteen minutes goes by without you giving them any action, they slam you back to Ruby.

Aliante is nice because Stations originally built it, as part of their program to appeal to the outskirts McMansion crowd. Its vibe is like Red Rock or Durango for that reason. It's definitely a better atmosphere than places like the Cal or GC, which often feel decidedly downscale.

If you like free rooms, then Boyd is for you.  500 tier credis gets you to Saphire and once you are there they start you there the next year.  no resort fee for comp rooms.  Easy free parking.  10 cent video poker and keno at the bars.  Boyd blows away the Plaza and Four Queens.  But everyone likes different things and that is the nice thing about having a car in Vegas  The farther away from downrown and the strip the happier you will be.

Orleans was my home away from home for 10+ years. Love the people there. Still have lifelong friends that work there and I sing by every trip. For 10 years a simple call or email got me 6 nights comped and they took care of my food. Did this 3 or 4 times a year and I was only Saphire. Covid hit and they destroyed their comp program. I moved to Caesars and I get so much more. Makes me sad I was always loyal to Boyd, no more!

I like the beds at Orleans. I always get one of the top two floors and the beds are soft.

I still visit Boyd depsite their disain for VP players.  Their room comps have always been generous so I will give them a bit of play and go for the 10x Tuesday points.  I maintain sapphire status annually which is not difficult given annual carry-over tier credits.  I regulary get monthly Sunday-Thursday free nights and sometimes on slower weekends I can get comped rooms.
This being said, I am moving my VP play to the D (Vue bar) and 4Q (9/6 JoB) where they seem to appreciate me more.

We loved the Orleans as well.  Covid really did a number on Boyd and the comp system.  We really enjoyed the Buffet, and utilized Movie Pass, when it was a thing in their theater.  Ah, the good old days.......

Sadly, Boyd has changed for the worse.  But the Blue Chip is close enough for us to visit every month or so and they have the best quarter vp selection for us.  We get free rooms, free play and a steakhouse dinner every month and then a quarterly stay in LV.  Some other offers too.  We also visit other Boyd properties when traveling and they comp us also.  It works well for us, as I don't like paying for a hotel or food.  Those dollars just might net me a royal!  We too have friends at the Orleans that we stop in to see.   We'll be going in the middle of Feb, so I think we'll do the Cal.  The weather will be nice enough to walk around and use our LVA coupons.  Thanks for the ideas.  And yes Edso, we miss the good old days.  Best times at the Stardust....
