Boyd and Facebook "Winners" Updates With Photos

On my Facebook page, Boyd casinos has posted pictures of winners for the last 5-6 years and extolled the fact that these winners won because they gambled at a Boyd property. In the comment section I stated that the money these "winners" won was seeded by the losses of others who gambled and obviously lost money. Ever since I posted my comment, 4-6 weeks ago, I have not received any more posted pictures of Boyd casino "winners". Go figure...

Given that you're just one of tens of thousands of customers, it's highly doubtful that whatever changes they made were a response to how you reacted.

Posting pictures of winners is as old as the casino industry itself. I pay no attention to it, because the fact that someone has won a jackpot doesn't affect me one way or the other.

"Believe" what you may - the proof is in the fact that they, after 5-6 years have stopped posting to my Facebook account  AFTER I posted my comments. Coincidence possibly, but doubtful. Sane people can draw their own conclusion.

I for one don't think I'm so important that posting a complaint on a casino's Facebook page can get them to change their policies; I also realize that Event B following Event A doesn't mean that A caused B; I'm not sure what it means to "believe" something as opposed to plain old believing it but I do believe that I could stand in the middle of Las Vegas Boulevard and scream at the top of my lungs and the casinos wouldn't change their policies one bit; and I am, in fact, sane.

But you could certainly have an outsized influence on the casinos. I think you should test that by lobbying them to bring back fullpay video poker, 3:2 blackjack, and free parking. Please let us know how that goes.

I don't "believe" that I asked anyone to change their policies.  Amazing to see how a simple, informative post ends up becoming contentious depending on who replys.

Yes, David, believe what you want, and "believe" what you want.

So, David Miller, is there a casino on the globe where this would not be true as well, that losers subsidize winners?   Probably hit the round file, if taken seriously at all.  Who cares anyway?

Wait a minute! I thought that casinos paid us jackpots out of the goodness of their hearts!

I'm reminded of all those billboards you see that shout, WE PAID OUT $43,721,008 IN JACKPOTS LAST MONTH!!! I imagine seeing in 4-point type at the bottom,  (and we took in $52,343,761).

When I was an AP, I considered that the losers were subsidizing ME. But that's another story.

Candy, you are correct, but don't forget that many others who gamble who are new at gambling are easily swayed by such actions by the casinos. Long time gamblers know that this action by casinos is just their way of snagging the "new fish" who don't know how gambling is structured in the casinos favor. Personally I don't care but there may be some new to the gambling game who read these postings who might appreciate knowing what I posted.
