... or they forgot something -- or the bean counters decided to change it -- or ...
I'm a regular player at the Gold Coast, almost daily. Recently, at the GC (and probably other boyd properties) you need to swipe your card at the promo kiosk before playing, because they may have some kind of additional point multiplier for that day. But, the only way to know if it's there is to swipe your card -- again, before you begin your day's session. For those who aren't familiar with this, see some of Jean Scott's recent articles.
Anyway, for me, at the end of the days's festivities, I will occasionally go into the high limit room and play a few VP hands, at the higher denoms that aren't available out on the casino floor.
Well, today, I go in there, and see that all the machines have a notice (white tape across the chrome at the top of the belly door) that say something like "special point multipliers are not applicable to this machine" ... or something similar.
Really steamed. I don't play the higher denoms regularly. But I have noticed that a small amount of playing time at those higher denoms really boosts up that card balance (or "bonus point balance", or whatever it's called).
It's been speculated that, from the start, they intended to save money/comps with the new "swipe your card before you play", since some players will forget to do it. And now, they have taken another stingy measure.
Again, a regular GC customer. There are so many things that have changed (for the worse) since Mr. Gaughan left. (e.g. whoever heard of a casino without a coffee shop?)
Whenever someone's puzzled (or infuriated) about something there, I always tell them that there's a simple two-word explanation for it: boyd gaming!
