boyd -- going from ruby to sapphire..

I know the website shows the different benefits per level, but I was wondering, do the room offers, cash back, free play etc. increase significantly? I know playing for comps is usually not a good idea, but if I can get to the next level without losing the farm, is it worth it?
If you are close, its worth it. My wife is a saph and gets a good number of tourney offers and free nights. Not much in the way of food or free play tho. You also get double points in Vegas and get invited to tier parties.
Tier status has no effect on your offers. Offers are based on your play. Period.

Sapphire will give you x2 points. That's it.
Tier status, especially for Saphire does impact your offers...for tournaments. My wife is a penny player and she gets a tourney offer at least every week...more than I do and I've been an Emerald for years.

Boyd doesn't have a Platinum status.
I have been Sapphire for about 3 years, and was about 38K tier points from Emerald.

Over Halloween week, I stayed 3 nights @ GC and then 4 nights @ MSS.

I obtained Emerald my 2nd night at GC.
I cycled over 63K coin-in.
I saw a host about getting meals for a group of 4...he said charge to room, and they'd take care of it.
(I did have enough points, just didn't want to use them)

I charged dinner for 4 @ TGIF, breakfast for 2 @ TGIF, and 2 other meals @ TGIF, to my room.

I met my host on checkout day.
All charges were removed.

When I went to MSS, I got 2 food books, $40 dining cpns, and then another $60 comp from host.

Total coin-in over 7 nights was just under 95K in.

I continue to get all types of 2-3 nights offers for rooms, tourneys, etc.., along w/food and FP offers.

Just recently, I wanted to go to GC for Nov. 23-25 for my BDAY.
Website showed 11/23 "sold out".
I emailed my host and she responded back within an hour, and comped that night also!
She also gave me a $100 credit for dinner @ The Cortez Room for my BDAY.

MSS has been my home casino for years, but I am ready to switch to GC.
There is one advantage of having a sapphire card which is overlooked. When you renew your card, you are entitled to three free nights at any Boyd Gaming Property. The period in which you can use the offer is 2-3 months after your renewal period.

Just be careful how you use it. If you use it for on of your home properties that you get offers for it counts as a trip. For instance I get offers for the Orleans and downtown properties ( All of these count as one property, I selected the Cal as my main property). In using my offer I would select the SunCoast to use the offer. That way I am not obligated to play any amount. Because I did not play a lot, I would only get the casino rate or selected days free offers, but it did not bother me as this was not one of my home properties. After the renewal period the following year, I could use the offer again for the SunCoast again.
Sam: I'm a bit puzzled about your referral to renewing your sapphire card. I'm a sapphire and stay that way thru sufficient play over various trips. Because of this I never drop down into ruby. So when does my sapphire renew??

Both saph and emerald have expiration dates on the card...the next day they renew if you have the tier points.
Thanks Cap'n. I'll be sure to check my Bconnected right after my expiration date. The card, I mean, not me ...
