boyd -- going from ruby to sapphire..

Vegasdev, I'd definitely ask. A number of people, myself included, have noticed dramatic decreases in offers from Boyd, since around last October or November. We always stay at MSS, play about $4K/d, offers have consistently been three nights and $20 food for several years. From late last year until around March, I dropped to 20% off rack rate (host still comped us for February 2015), then three nights and $20 food came back, now for the summer it's back to 20% off rack rate. Not sure what they're up to.
nothing major going on in august when I will be there, 100+ temps, not the busiest time for vegas. I guess the bean counters and marketing geniuses would rather have the rooms sit empty. sounds like SOP for casinos these days.

update: so, on my last trip to vegas, I played a lot at boyd casinos, enuf to move from ruby to sapphire. and most of it was at Orleans. and now instead of getting 2 free nights, the best offer I have at Orleans is a reduced rate and $10 a day dining credit. and I would have to pay the daily resort fee of $12.99. I realize it can take a while for your offers to catch up with your play but this feels like a slap in the face. I was planning on going back in august, I wonder if a host could help with 2 or 3 nights comped.

I gave MSS some good play in March. My next 2 months of offers, June and July were both 2 free nights. Today I get a August offer of 20% off the regular rates?? I have no idea where this is coming from?
Im speechless!!

This is exactly what happened to us, Champ. My coin-in has always been about $3500-4000/d and for the past four or five years, the offers have always been three nights and $20 food. No change in action or frequency of visits, and back around November 2014 the offers downgraded to casino rate, then 50% off rack rate. Called a host, got nights comped for February but then a new offer arrived, same as before, three nights and $20 food. Offers since had been the same, but then last week I received summer offers (which ought to be better), now it's 20% off rack rate. Maybe some food, too, don't remember. Not sure if this represents an actual severe downgrade, since it happened last year and recovered. We shall see, and I'll be calling a host about August.

Let me know how it works out Stew. Hoping for a change before my August trip!

Theres an old saying that sometimes "people take kindness for a weakness". Im wondering if Boyd can afford to treat reliable, consistent players worse while trying to cater to new players and intice them with some of the decent offer that we used to get. Maybe they (Boyd) think that we will come regardless! Looks like they may be forcing me to give Stations a 2nd look!
Everyone says that Boyd is downgrading offers, but I'm not sure what to make of the up-and-down these past eight months or so. At the same time, I've gotten a better-than-usual offer from Sam's Town (although Boyd has always handled the downtown properties different than the old Coast properties). I'll let you know how it goes with my host, Champ.

We really liked our first stay at Palace Station back in February, but I understand that they've really downgraded their offers in recent years (Champster had posted about that, and I've heard it from many other sources). We do have a room offer for August, but last month their offer was 3x points on Tuesdays. Not sure we'll be able to fit them in this summer, too many better options.
I think one reason they are offering discounted rooms instead of comped is so that the can collect the $12.99 daily resort fee. oh well, let the rooms set empty and see how well that works out for them.

Actually, the downtown Boyd properties are among the very few in town that still don't have a resort fee.
