Boyd rewards downgraded

The quarterly LV stay benefit for Emerald and above has changed.  If you frequent the Midwest or South properties, then your stay will be for LV.  If you play in LV, then your stay will be for casinos in the South or Midwest.  This was not communicated to the players, just silently changed starting with the June offers.  Since we play in the Midwest and LV, I have had an offer for the Midwest, 3rd quarter and one for LV, 4th quarter.  Hard to plan a vacation when you don't know where your offer will be.   One more reason to move away from Boyd.  We were just at the Suncoast and the place is like a ghost town compared to Southpoint.  We play at the Blue Chip in Indiana and that place isn't packed like it used to be either.  I guess the bean counters are happy.

But it doesn't appear to be a sustainable business model in the long term.

The only reason I can think of for their customer antagonization policy is that they were deluded by the post-pandemic feeding frenzy into thinking they could gouge and gouge and gouge and at the same time, offer a horrible experience. The other casinos have thought that to some extent, but Boyd seems to have gone all in on the concept.

Why don't we all avoid Vegas until these assholes show some sense? Why validate their shit by showing up and paying high prices to be abused?

And Don, their business model isn't sustainable, but as long as there are lemmings to feed on, they'll keep it up.

Yet you always happen to "just be driving through town" and still go to Vegas.

You're getting so predictable, Jerry. I mean, really. Stop being a child.

And yes, driving from San Diego to Yellowstone, one does pass through Vegas. I'm sorry I stayed there without your permission.

Fuckhead.

From two posts up......

Overall, I think that there are 4 types of visitors; (1) Those who don't care and will come no matter what, (2) Those who will come, bitching every step of the way, (3) Those, like myself, who will seek out all of the offers, discounts, comps and will continue to come WITHOUT bitching, and (4) Those who have quit coming, for whatever reason.  As long as those who belong to groups 1 and 2 keep coming to Vegas, nothing much will change until there is a recession and money gets tight.

David, I agree, and your continuing to come to Vegas despite your being a, shall we say, charter member of Group #2 proves your point. (Anyone with even a cursory knowledge of your daily dozens of "bitching" posts in the Sink will know that you're sure as hell not a member of Group #3.)

However, you did leave out one very large group: those who are presently not coming to Vegas but will return if and when conditions improve. Those are the smart ones. There are also the people, like myself, who still have/had a few "leftover" offers that make a visit worthwhile. That, from the posts everyone is making, seems to be a rapidly dwindling group.

You don't need to pursue the thinly veiled personal attack nonsense any longer, nor do you need to make the snide "bitching" remark for the fiftieth time. There are many complaints about Vegas, especially recently. You can label that "bitching" if you want, but it's an unfair characterization. That nasty little phrase implies that said complaints are unjustified. They're anything but.

This is my attempt to talk you you civilly. Do you know what the word "quixotic" means?

Other than that fact that this subject has become mega-tiresome, I'll add this, to which nobody is a target:

There are...how many?...readers of the Las Vegas Advisor?  And of those, how many post/read/post?

Is it feasible that the number, whichever category they fall into, to think that "they" will make a pimple on a gnat's a** as far as influencing casino directors to make "changes" financially beneficial to visitors/customers?  As in lower room rates, lower food prices, higher comps?

Compared to the actual number of visitors/gamblers that cycle in and out of Vegas either once, twice, daily, monthly?

I'm thinking not so much.

More's the pity.  But in reality, the best that can be hoped for is that readers who do want to spend less while having more fun will subscribe and read to the Advisor and other helpful blogs, take note and follow suit.  But it has little to do with the actual mass number that flies/drives in and out of the city, and little to do with the business model.

I get your point, and I don't disagree. However, I think that LVA subscribers might have an outsize influence on the casinos, if only indirectly--if we all exchange information on a regular basis. We can patronize those few establshments that still offer value and decent customer service, and stay away from those that don't. Most LVA subscribers tend to value those things more than the typical visitor who, sorry to say, seems all too willing to be had on a regular basis.

We'll also have that much more influence when the current feeding frenzy dies down, as it must. There's a consensus here that the casinos' current business model is a slow-motion plane crash. We are, after all, repeat customers, and they should resume giving a shit about us in the near future--I sadly acknowledge that they don't now.

In the meantime, there are other places in the world to go.
