Boyd rewards downgraded

We play nickles and quarters, Video poker and keno about 15 days last year out of the 40 plus days we were in vegas.  For our play the offers are some of the best compared to other properties.  We like to play where we are wanted and it is nice to have options.  This year we are cutting back play at the rampart as those offers seem to be drying up.  But Resorts World is now on the radar with food and free play and rooms with only a half day play each trip.  Still not willing to comp the resort fees, but if they do we would diffenately sleep over.

Have you noticed that the comp value is not actually good because they cut the 40 per cent discount in the  Corner Stone. Until recent years that was quite some extra. But now it's 1000 points = 1 Dollar, whether you use it in the Corner Stone restaurant or load it up onto your machine. bummer.

I absolutely loved Cornerstone, because even at full price, it was the best steakhouse value in town. Food as good as in the Strip megatoilets, but at less than half the cost. They had specials, too, like a complete (beverage, dessert, the whole shebang) prime rib dinner for $30.

I haven't been back there, or to any Boyd casino, since they dropped me down to Dirt level because I didn't visit during the pandemic, and I found out that Dirt level doesn't earn any points. At all. Zip zilch nada. And it would take $250,000 coin-in to get to the next tier up. Fuck 'em.

Cornerstone still has the good prime rib.  The best deals there are to go for the happy hour.  Also they have the 40 dollars for 20  coupon if you are staying there.  They have the free charcuterie board in the bar area and the house cab is usualy a pretty good label.  The manager is a good guy that remembers everone and a big hockey fan, so chat him up in the bar area.  And yes ,  the reduced point value sucks !  And yes if you are starting from no status, you do have to move up a card level to get the goodies.  Not too tough on a multiplier day, and so far they grandfather you in for the next year

Good to know that Cornerstone is still a reasonable value. The 40 for 20 coupon used to appear in the ACG. My brother and his girlfriend met me in Vegas several years ago, and I got them an MRB and an ACG each, and we barnstormed the town in a super coupon run. She absolutely hated the idea of gambling but loved the idea of free money. The highlight reel for her was we used $10 matchplays at the Gold Coast roulette wheel--we all won, and then used our $20 winnings to each get a $40 meal at Cornerstone.

It's a known scientific fact that free food tastes better.

That indeed is a shame. Why would you have to play a certain amount of hands without receiving ANY POINTS before they decide to give you some points?

I was fortunate to have one of my hosts at Sam's Town (or the marketing responsible) to lift up my status to the level at which I can immediately earn points. That was after covid as we were not allowed to visit the US (!), as if the evil came from abroad and there was no covid at all to spread within the U.S. (ha). Anyways I can continue playing ob of course only with the blue card level. I used to be Emerald and had the privilege of parking in the ground level zone at the Gold Coast which was quite nice.    The YAH downgrade is a disgrace and I am not surprised that even during that day of the week the Boyd operated casinos are not even halfway as busy as they used to be.
