dNew Grazie club changes at Venetian/Palazzo- comped nights are back

"Yep. I can totally see why convention business is more valuable to Sheldon. Why yank comps from someone who drops a couple of thou over a weekend when you can have Amy the Convention Attendee putting her $11 in a penny slot? "

Exactly right melisaru. And don't forget.......while Amy the Conventioneer is playing that $11,
she will have 4 or 5 friends standing behind her watching!
Except that Sheldon is counting on Amy the Conventioneer to be on an expense account from work and spending mega money on all of her meals, spa treatments, etc...

I totally get why Sheldon thinks he'll make more money on the convention business, but what he did to his mid-range and low-end gamblers was criminal, in my opinion. I do hope karma catches up with him.
I have no problem with V/P changing their business model/comp policies/anything else. It's their business. Perhaps if I had actually gambled there in 2010, I would be more upset about the offers dissapearing.

But, for a "player development rep" to call and email me to offer me a comp, confirm it was comped 6 days before check in and then call me 24 hours before check in and tell me that it wasn't comped, that kind of burns me up a little. And I do not believe for one nanosecond that Adelson did not initiate the entire comp pulling business.

The article a few posts back kind of leads you to believe that the hosts just sort of took it upon themselves to start calling people and telling them they were no longer comped. BS!

I have not heard a peep from them since that day, not even the $129 offers that used to come via email when I was getting free rooms and freeplay. I wonder if any of the other bait and switchers have heard anything from V/P since then
I think the article did a pretty good job of summarizing why V/P is unique and can take this approach to their business model, a point I tried making in another post on this.

I agree with you Mare but would add its not what he did to those gamblers but how.

Also agree with you Karen. If it had been say one host then one could say they had screwed up. But this seems to be policy and my understanding is only one person makes these kinds of decisions.

Won't rehash old ground but the bottom line is, like most things in Vegas, a bit of a gamble that may work out just fine for V/P much to our disappointment.

That's what I meant, Marc. He's entitled to do what he did, but it's criminal HOW he did it.
That's a totally fair point, Mare, and I have no doubt it will be true to an extent. But...do many companies still keep fat expense accounts open?
I know that my recent three-day biz trip from Atlanta to L.A. had to be done in less than $1,000. Granted, I work in media, which is nearly bankrupt every other week, and we've always been expected to survive on 50 bucks a day and a compact rental.
But if there are still companies out there that allow $100 meals, spa treatments and money for other niceties that you can experience in Vegas, well hell, I want a new career!
Well dont forget that the companies ARE paying for other costs with the conventions. The hosting group is paying for use of the spaces, set ups (like coffee, tea, juice, rolls) and most probably at least a reception all of which bring bucks to V/P and is something the average gambler isnt paying for. It is also not unusual for at least one catered dinner (or in a sign of the times cutting back a lunch) which is also lucrative for V/P.

I certainly dont want to revisit the previous thread on this but it might just work for V/P due to their unique circumstances.

At any rate we can agree they handled the switch over poorly and have burned quite a few bridges with formerly loyal customers. Should things not work out with a return to their previous model they will have a tough time winning many of us back.
If Wynn was smart he would take advantage of luring former V/P customers with some good offers.
You would think someone would. Our offers from Wynn headed south after we stiffed them the last two visits. The problem is Wynn always had a rather high play level for comps as it is and now that there is nothing really playable below $5 it isnt that attractive.
Caesars and CET brand hosts have been all over the Boycott Venetian/Palazzo facebook page. They've also been all over the tripadvisor pages. They appear to be like vultures looking for aggravated former V/P customers.
