Well dont forget that the companies ARE paying for other costs with the conventions. The hosting group is paying for use of the spaces, set ups (like coffee, tea, juice, rolls) and most probably at least a reception all of which bring bucks to V/P and is something the average gambler isnt paying for. It is also not unusual for at least one catered dinner (or in a sign of the times cutting back a lunch) which is also lucrative for V/P.
I certainly dont want to revisit the previous thread on this but it might just work for V/P due to their unique circumstances.
At any rate we can agree they handled the switch over poorly and have burned quite a few bridges with formerly loyal customers. Should things not work out with a return to their previous model they will have a tough time winning many of us back.

Yes, there are, as I'm married to one who works for a global company and has global strategy and sales meetings. It's just more limited, in recent years. I think you really have to have 'justifiable' reasons. Of course, it drives me crazy, since these meetings add to her already crazy travel schedule; and often encourage her to 'add-on' to the trip, to make it more 'cost effective.' You should have seen my reaction when I had to cancel my March Vegas trippie because of one of these meetings.... "A two day meeting in Istanbul, really? --- you've got to be kidding me...." LOL
Back to V/P, this is a very HARSH reminder that it is ALWAYS US AGAINST THEM. With that being said, the folks at V/P were 'whores' years ago, and I expected once the convention business picked up, they would be 'whores' again. I basically grabbed whatever I could (from the opening year of Palazzo, when my offers went crazy); but never gave them more than my 'standard' Vegas play. Remember, they were the folks (years ago) that used to put an * at the bottom of an offer "if you do NOT meet your previous play requirements, we reserve the right to charge you for your COMP stay" --- I've never trusted them... actually, I never trust any gaming company...
